  1. I’d be interested in working on some cards! I love this so much!
  2. fair, don't mess with the boat gang...
  3. Miami lol just based on the player name
  4. When have I ever gone crazy with trades im so happy with how far you’ve come since that M draft pick. That’s all you
  5. It was a heat of the moment thing, I don't hold it against you
  6. 1. The start to my season has been so-so. I've been experimenting with an idea for my final build for my player and results have been mixed, though i feel like there's probably some bad luck in there. On the team side, it's been a tougher start than I would have expected for Prague, but we had two big wins against top teams today so I think we'll start to turn it around! 2. Well being in Texas, BBQ is a big thing lol, though I can't lie, it's not my favorite thing... I know, horrible Texan. But on occassion, brisket is pretty good. 3. The biggest surprise so far has to be the New York Americans. I had them pencilled in as one of the top teams in the league. I still think they'll ge there and it's super early in the season, but I did not expect to see them tied with LA after 12 games. 4. I'm notorious for falling asleep in those situations. 5-10 minutes and I'm dreaming 5. Just go with what's working! It's easy to overthink things sometimes and if Simon's happy, I'm happy! 6. You're too kind! VHL has been so much fun and the people are the best part!
  7. DOING THE LORD’S WORK!
  8. In his final season with the Miami Marauders in the VHLM, Armas Jortikka @Kavadar led all defensemen in points, collecting 86 through the regular 72 game season. For his efforts at both ends of the ice, Jortikka earned the Ryan Sullivan Trophy as the league's top defenseman. His 60 assists were also a league high among all players, clinching him the Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy. After being traded in the offseason from Helsinki to Malmo, Jortikka made his VHL debut against London United and contributed 2 assists to a 4-3 Malmo win. In S98, Malmo will rely on Jortikka's pedigree as a two-way defenseman, and as an assistant captain, he will be counted on to lead both on and off the ice. ༺⛧𖤍⛧༻
  9. Malmo was always number one for me, basically since day 1. I joined the Bulls in the VHLM since I'm from Houston, but when I looked at all the VHL teams, Malmo always stood out to me as my favorite. As a Sharks fan, enamoured by the colors and the logos since I was 5 years old, it was definitely an aesthetic thing at first. But so many great people who played for Malmo really solidified it as my favorite VHL franchise. Besides that-- and before my player played for those teams-- Riga and Prague were also high up on my list of teams I was hoping I could be a part of at some point. So I couldn't have asked for better teams to be a part of for my first player in the VHL. There are so many otherwise that are really awesome too though, and it's always the people and GMs, like others have said, that really make them appealing and interesting to join. Teams like LA, Vancouver, Calgary and Moscow would also be very high on my list to join if I ever had the chance
  10. YAY! I GET TO BE TEAMMATES WITH @Mutti FOR THE NEXT 3 SEASONS!
  11. Narnia Shaw @Dabnad enters into his second season in the VHL after a strong rookie season with the Malmo Nighthawks in S97 where he registered 8 goals and 44 assists for 52 points, and was named to the VHL's All-Rookie Team. In S98, Shaw figures to be the top blueliner for the Nighthawks and is expected to take a big step forward with a bigger role and more opportunity. As one of the team's assistant captains, he'll also be relied upon as a leader in the locker room and on the ice as the Malmo Nighthawks turn the page towards a rebuild after winning the Victory Cup last season-- their 3rd Victory Cup in 7 seasons, capping off one of the best regular season eras in the team's history. As a member of that team, Shaw knows the feeling of winning and can carry some of that experience with him as a leader on this younger and leaner version of the team that is building from the ground up. ༺⛧𖤍⛧༻
  12. ugh, you're too good... seeing stuff like this makes me embarassed to even make graphics don't worry I won't quit, but yeah, wow...

  14. Playing so little is not ideal, but it’s also kinda part of the experience in a way, especially when teams are trying to balance more than 6 forwards on a roster. Like your 200 TPE player is going to get caved against 1200 TPE people. Yes, it’s an offseason tournament for fun, but I also think it’s a little unreasonable to expect to get as much ice time as a player with 1000 more TPE. Maybe that’s not what you’re suggesting, but I see you had about 10 minutes per game in 6 playoff games. If that’s not enough, your GM I’m sure would have accommodated a request for more time if you had asked. And next season if you play again, you’re likely to have an increased role and more ice time. But I’m very confident your GM would have given you more time if you asked. I do think the Junior Showcase Tournament should be brought back for players in your TPE range tho. It hasn’t run the last few seasons because apparently we didn’t have enough players. But that’s what the JST is for. The ProAm isn’t even an official VHL tournament.
  15. The first ProAm with a new player can definitely be tough, and all of us who enjoy the tournament have definitely been there. I think one of the realities was also that some teams had more than 6 forwards which means somebody draws the short straw and has to play 3rd line only. I found my first ProAm to be fun in a way, even though I didn’t get hardly any points and also played limited minutes. We all start as little baby players, but it’s motivating to see how we compare at first and how much better we can get . That was my experience anyway. Anyway, it’s a totally optional tournament so if you don’t like it, there’s no pressure to join! But I still think it’s worth being involved in since there’s not much else happening in the offseason
  16. Malmo, Continental Cup? Sign me up, I'll take it!
  17. Wait, does Jillian Woods get to wear the letter D? That might be a first…
  18. After an impressive era-- one of the most successful in the team's history, at least in the regular season-- the Malmo Nighthawks are ready to turn the page and build from the ground up once again. Leading the charge for the these upstart Nighthawks is VHL rookie Xhekajs Middletoe @Xhekityb123. Since being acquired by the Nighthawks as a prospect in the offseason prior to S97, Xhektoe has been a complete revelation for the franchise, earning a league best 273 TPE in the time since he was traded to Malmo, and has been one of the most active members around the team, despite completing his time in the VHLM with Halifax. Heading into S98 with only one returning player, the Nighthawks are looking to establish a strong culture around the team and Xhektoe seems the perfect candidate to lead this team forward after being a perennial contender. Here are the Malmo Nighthawks Captains for S98: C - Xhekajs Middletoe @Xhekityb123 A - Narnia Shaw @Dabnad A - Armas Jortikka @Kavadar Narnia Shaw is the only returning player from the S97 roster and was a rookie on that Victory Cup winning team. Shaw brings some connectivity from the old core into the newest iteration of the Nighthawks and a winning pedigree after being an important part of that dominant S97 team. Shaw is also one of the fastest growing members on the Nighthawks and currently the player with the highest total TPE. Armas Jortikka is a new addition to the Nighthawks, but has shown promise so far. The Nighthawks will be hoping to see him take the next step in his development after winning some serious hardware in his last season in the VHLM. Congratulations to the S98 Nighthawks leadership group! ༺⛧𖤍⛧༻
  19. I don’t think they always get it wrong, not at all. The criteria is also technically different for Slobo and Campbell. I think “most outstanding” is an easier thing to determine than “most valuable”, which is why I said the player voted Slobo tends to get it right imo. Literally just vote honestly for the player who performed the best and was most outstanding. As mentioned above, “most valuable” seems a little ambiguous. Most valuable in the league? Most valuable to team? Total value contributed? Value relative to teammates? Value relative to similar players? I’m not saying the BoG gets it wrong, but their criteria seems quite different from the NHL’s Hart criteria, even though the trophy is described the same way— for the most valuable player. I suspect this discrepancy is why people take issue with the choices at times. There are many ways to determine value and which particular version of value should be used is not clear in the award description, which is why my version might not agree with BoGs choice, and likely why the vote was close since 6 voters agreed Lovstrom was MVP. I think better defined criteria provided by the league for these awards would likely help avoid these disagreements in the future and people feeling robbed. Nobody ever complains about the player who scores the most goals because the criteria is obvious and objective. But ask someone to tell you what value means for MVP and you’ll get ten different answers.
  20. “The Ted Lindsay Award is presented annually to the “Most Outstanding Player” in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA.” - from the NHL website. The award definition is quite literally the same as ours. I just think our voters seem to determine “value” differently than NHL Hart voters. I think our Slobo votes usually work themselves out since it’s pretty simple criteria and there are usually many voters. The MVP I think is where BoG gets hung up and perhaps overthinks the criteria at times. Im not a big fan of the idea that MVP “value” should be a percentage value of a player relative to their team. I wrote about this in another comment. It can very easily over inflate a player’s perceived value based on the fact that the roster is flawed. Winning an award based on your team’s deficiency is a little silly. Also notice a strong correlation between Hart, Lindsay, and Art Ross Trophy winners. Not always the same— less so with the Art Ross— but I don’t think we should be afraid of the idea that the most outstanding player, or highest producer could also be the most valuable to their team. Again, the fact that there has only been one Slobo and Campbell crossover winner since S85 is a little odd.
  21. I most definitely did not say the Slobo and Campbell should be the same player. Notice how the highlighted section is merely an observation, not a claim. That being said, something does seem off about the evaluation of this awards when the “Most Outstanding Player” has only won the “Most Valuable Player” award once since S85– interestingly it was your player. Conversely, the real awards that the Campbell and Slobodzian are based on (the Hart and Lindsay) have had the same winner in all but two seasons since 2012– Taylor Hall MVP being one. Those awards also share the same criteria as our version of them so it’s a little odd to me how our voters end up with such drastically different results. Not every Slobo winner needs to win the Campbell, but there should be more crossover than once every 11 seasons.
