  1. 1. Rejoining Houston! 2. Looking forward to applying a bunch of TPE in the offseason! 3. Go play some other sports 4. Cheese curds 5. Travels back to Niue to spend the holidays with family 6. The grind never stops! Traveling to either Cancun to practice baseball or Portsmouth to practice basketball.
  2. 1. Disappointing but expected. I don't think we were a great team but I was hoping we could defy the odds. 2. I love the playoffs 3. Whatever Jacob says 4. Should still be in Houston 5. Blue World by Mac 6. Chicago!
  3. 1. My favorite part of our season so far has definitely been the LR/team 2. Stop adding TPE to our players cause everyone knows adding TPE makes you worse 3. Refs = bad 4. No clue, we are winning though so that is good, but I trust our GMs with the team! 5. Played some volleyball in costume 6. I snow, warm weather sucks
  4. 1. I dont think so, we should make the playoffs as is 2. I think my player, because I help the team in ways that don't show up on the stat sheet 3. Where's Waldo Q1. Pancakes or Waffles? Q2. What is your players favorite type of candy? Q3. What sports game did your player watch most recently?
  5. I rather enjoy writing weekly PT tasks, but have not done any of the one's from the PBE this season as I have a PT pass, so I decided I could do them for the VHL instead! The most recent prompt was: Going into the last few games of the regular season your player takes on a new pre-game habit in hopes of keeping a strong pace for your team/individual stats or to turn things around from how they've been going. Describe the new habit and its impacts. As Feka Ohi Kau is from Niue, a tropical island country, picking up skating for him was the toughest part about learning to play hockey. He had the strength to hit and be hit, the hand eye coordination to work his stick, but struggled (and still does) with moving around on the ice. To help with this, he has started to do warmups on the ice this season that mimic the sports he is used to. For example, he runs routes and catches a football on the ice before games, does dribbling drills on the ice, and also takes a quick batting practice as well. While this may be highly unorthodox, practicing these familiar movements has helped him learn to transfer the skills that he has from other sports to the ice, allowing him to adapt what he currently knows instead of having to pick up a full new skillset.
  6. 1. Its gonna be a battle to make the playoffs, as we look like a solid team so far that will fight for the 3/4 seeds. Not too bad. 2. Tough to say, not really ranked well in anything atm 3. Jacobcarson tell me what to do 4. Not really, playing 4 sports is a bit too much 5. Ill go to Mars with you 6. Cheese curds
  7. The start to Feka Ohi Kau's third VHLM season has been interesting. Although it was looking like he would hit the cap for the VHLM this year and be a dominant defender, that ended up not being the case as the VHLE was dissolved and lead to many elite defenders reentering the ranks along side him. Not being a hockey person myself, it is tough to really understand how well he is doing this season. He does not appear to be near the lead for either hits or shots blocked which I would assume would be the two primary thats that defenders would be aiming for, and he also is getting basically zero assists or goals. However, he was not designed to be a goal scorer, but rather a pure defender that is as valuable to his team as possible. Whether that vision is coming to life seems unlikely given the poor counting stats for defense, but also I wonder if blocking shots or getting hits really is that important to being a great defender or if his impact may be being felt outside of the box score. After all, good passing decisions, forcing the puck away from your man, intercepting passes, and not turning the puck over are all very valuable assets that would not make an appearance in the statistics page. A potentially positive indication that the plan is working is that Ohi Kau's plus minus is higher than the teams total differential, although it might be a bit biased as he is playing with the front line so that may just be because of the teammates he has around him. It also is important to keep in mind that he is playing against players who may have over two hundred more TPE than he does, so success may not be something that should be expected until next season possibly. Maybe as I start to flesh out my build, and work towards a build created by my GM, I will start to see my plus minus rise or the blocked shots and hits start to tally up more, but it is a bit tough to just have to trust you are helping your team succeed without much to back it up. Being 14th in the league in penalty minutes but not really being up their in the hits is also a bit frustrating, but the entirety of Houston has seemed to be getting hit especially hard by the early sims with penalty minutes, so maybe the refs have started to drop their Houston bias a bit, or maybe the Bulls are learning to behave themselves a bit better. Either way, hopefully his high ranking in the penalty category starts to fall of as the season goes on. At the end of the day, all I can do is earn TPE and hope that hunting good defense instead of hits or goals starts to show up in the wins column for Houston instead of boosting my personal stats in the index. 502 words claiming 10/27

    Homecoming

He immediately opened his phone and texted an old teammate, "Yo, Jacobcarson is becoming the Houston GM!?". He got a reply back shortly that read "Yeah, just wait a bit though lol." Confused, Feka Ohi Kau put down his phone and got into his football workout. After he exited the weight room, he decided to check is phone and he saw another ESPN notification, "AJW hired as assistant GM in Houston". Immediately, his mind went racing. Houston had felt like home with AJW, and Yukon had certainly felt like home with Jacobcarson as well, maybe this combination would bring the spark he was looking for? He got out his phone and texted his current GM, "Hey, any chance you can get me back to Houston?". He got a response back shortly, "possibly, let me see what I can do." "Well", Feka thought, "at least there might be a chance." As the offseason continued and Feka began to wrap up his final DSFL season in Tijuana, he was in the back of an Uber to the Toros' training facility in Cancun when he got a text from AJW, "Welcome back brother!". All throughout his training session in Cancun, all he could think about was how excited he was to arrive back in Houston for his first practice back. As soon as he got out, he raced back home and jumped in his car, bolting it to Houston. Feka made record time to the Bulls training facility, hastily opening the door and slamming it shut, before popping the trunk, hoisting his duffel bag onto his shoulders, and rushing in. As he entered the facility, he was immediately greeted by AJW and Jacobcarson, with whom he talked for what seemed like hours before heading over to the locker room, getting on his practice gear, and catching up with his old teammates. Once AJW entered the locker room and gave a pre-practice speech, Feka immediately knew this is where he belonged. The excellent culture that AJW could build, coupled with Jacobcarson's good culture and elite team building, development, and coaching, were going to be a dangerous combo for the rest of the league, and a dangerously fun team environment. After weeks of practice, their first game had finally arrived. He rolled into the parking lot and exited his, dressed in his stereotypical Hawaiian shirt made by his mom back in Niue. As he walked into the locker room and started to get prepped, he realized that he definitely felt more at home. Hockey was finally fun again. Sure, maybe Houston would not be a cheat code to a championship like Philly was, but at least if they could or could not accomplish the ultimate goal, he would be doing it surrounded by some of his favorite coaches and teammates. As his skate touched the ice for warmups, all he could do was smile. He skated around with pure joy, listening to the buzz that filled the arena as the fans got to their seats. He was finally back home. Claiming Today - 10/20
  9. 1. I feel like Philly should be great again considering how dominant they were to end the season last year 2. Just happy to be back in Houston! 3. Our forward depth is insane, but it would be great to add some defense for sure 4. Not an NHL guy, but I will say the Penguins win the cup 5. Snow 6. Good GMs?!
  10. When the buzzer finally sounded in the final game of the championship, and the him and his fellow Philadelphia Reapers had been crowned as champions, Feka Ohi Kau had obviously been elated. The dream of winning a cup and finally been accomplished. However, something just did not feel quite right. Although the trade deadline move to Philadelphia had been perfect in any regard - the departure from Houston and his teammates went fine, the trip, move and house search went fine, meeting and getting to know the new team went fine, and obviously the play on the ice was fine - the experience was not quite what he was hoping it would be. As they celebrated and departed the stadium to go celebrate at with a dinner at Butcher and Singer, his mind wandered trying to figure out what was missing, however he decided to shut down the thoughts for the moment and fully let the achievement sink in and celebrate with his teammates while he still had time. Once the offseason hit, Feka's mind had nothing to do except for think. No matter whether he was skating, lifting, shooting, or preparing for the football, basketball, or baseball season, he was still trying to figure out why it felt off. When he was taking a break in between batting practice sessions, he was scrolling back through his Instagram feed and saw a picture of him with AJW handing him Houston jersey. The joy and elation on his face was striking. Then he found a video of him goofing off with his JST teammates and their GM @jacobcarson877 after they had won a cup, and that same feeling of pure elation was still there. Both of these posts brought back the crushing memories of leaving the situations. Although the Yukon Rush had won the cup, that did not soften the blow of having to leave the friends behind to go back to Houston. And when @AJW announced that he was stepping back from GMing, the locker room just was not the same anymore. That pure joy and passion for the game had disappeared when he left and thats when he realized, it was not the hockey being played on the ice, nor the quality of the facilities, nor the number of fans, nor the teammates, it felt off because the culture that the GMs had brought that he had grown accustomed to had vanished. Upon realizing this, he knew that he would just need to keep going in Philly and hope to find that same environment in a future destination. After all, Philly had been a great spot and he had no reason to want to go to any of the other VHLM teams. Yes, the extreme joy may not be found, but he was literally getting paid to hockey and he had no complaints about his GMs or his fellow Reapers so there would be no reason to quit. As he was walking into the Colorado training for an offseason football workout, an ESPN notification popped up that read "@jacobcarson877 to replace Twists as Houston Bulls GM"... 518 Words - Claiming this week 8/13
  11. 1. Well I got traded back here so I dont totally fall in any category, but I AM STOKKKEEEDDD. 2. No clue, I dont know how the drafts went but I assume I am probably middle of the pack. 3. Maybe 2-3 seasons? I dont have a great idea on how long it will take. 4. Probably just over .500, maybe 6-4 or 6-3-1 5. We should go on an all expense paid 3 month long vacation (on the GMs dime of course) 6. I dont really have a team, but probably the Penguins and Crosby
  12. 1. We won the Founder's Cup! Do you think the whole team had that expectation going into the playoffs? I was definitely thinking we were gonna win especially with how dominant we had been. 2. Who do you think was the MVP our team during the playoffs? No clue, everyone did a great job and it felt like a team effort. 3. Philadelphia traded some picks for players that would help us for the rest of the season and ultimately, win the Cup. We only have a 1st round pick and two 4th round picks. Will that be enough to help maintain a winning team? I think it really depends how the VHLE draft goes, we already had a great core and wont lose anyone so as long as that draft goes well we should be in a good position. 4. Did your player have any weird superstitions? Did he notice any of his teammates getting any superstitions of their own? Do you even believe in superstitions? My player does not have any superstitions, but he does call his parents every night. 5. What did you do with you day with the Cup? Drink or eat anything out of it? I brought it home to Niue and toured it around the island. 6. Finally, some of you are leaving, some are staying, but do you think the whole winning experience you gained will help you succeed in the future? This season was a great stepping stone for sure
  13. 1. The season just started, what are your thoughts so far? Hasn't been as great as I would have hoped, hopefully we can turn it around. 2. We've had a bit of a rocky start, what are your thoughts on what we can do to be better? I think we just have been a bit unlucky so far, so we just need to keep going. 3. Are you excited to move up the the VHLE? Very excited 4. What is your favorite restaurant or type of food? BBQ, fish fry, or mac n' cheese 5. Who is your favorite musician? If you don't have one, what is your favorite song? Mac Miller 6. If your player could play for any AHL team, which would it be? Milwaukee Admirals
  14. You were only my GM for 2-3 weeks but I'm gonna miss playing for you . Good luck with your future ventures!
  15. Very well balanced graphic that clearly displays the information that it is trying to convey. The trophy looks like it would have been difficult to blend into the background and you did a pretty good job at getting it to look like it fits. I also like the lighting on the base and the streaks of light are well done as well. Unfortunately, this graphic falls a bit short as although it has not been decided, everyone knows that Houston is going to win this year so they could just be immediately advanced to the finals. Currently: 9/10 Once Houston wins the finals: 15/10
