The Mississauga Hounds are on a nine game win streak and an eleven game point streak and are dominating the ice. They have now tied the Halifax 21st in points for second in the east and have beat the top team in the east twice on this win streak. @ace_five_ has his guys ready for the playoffs. A big part of the reason has been the play of @David VanHousen, who has been on fire since joining the hounds halfway through the season. Forward Avery Acres says, "He is always an impactful player on the ice and generates tons of great chances to score. He is always moving around to get open or trying to find the right pass for a teammate to score." VanHousen has arguably been the best pickup so far on the season. Another reason that this team is doing so well is the lack of penalties. The penalty minutes have gone down in the past fifteen to twenty games. Two players specifically who are both known for high penalty minutes have really slowed down on penalties, Kurt Bachmann and Avery Acres. While still playing tough and physical, Bachmann has been going to the box a lot less than earlier in the season. Goalie @Rin Yor Bjorven has also been really really good this season. He is 31-16-5 with 7 shutouts. His GAA of 2.06 is really good considering the Hounds start to the season. Acres said about Bjorven, "He keeps us in so many games with some insane saves. Even if us forwards make a mistake, Bjorven bails us out time and time again. He can put the team on his back at some points. And his leadership can be matched by only a few." Another factor has been the goal scoring abilities of @JaySmacksss Jay Sikes and @GoodLeftUndone Sidney Sheppard. Sikes and Sheppard, the two top goal scores on the hounds as of right now, have been lighting goalies on fire. They have been great finishers when they have the puck. Even with all the goals they score, they also gain a good amount of assists. Another guy who has scored the most game winning goals on the team with seven, Avery Acres, has been clutch. Although many think Houston is going to run away with the cup, don't sleep on a team like Mississauga. We know that they are actively looking for a trade at the deadline, so don't be surprised if they make a splash. With another star player, the Hounds could be elevated to the next level. We'll see how good they are tomorrow against the aforementioned Houston Bulls. They could be a sneaky dark horse pick in the playoffs this year.

As we pass the halfway mark of the season, teams are locking in for a playoff push. But that doesn't take out the importance of rivalry games. The "Battle For The Milk" rivalry between the Mississauga Hounds and Las Vegas Aces is tied 2-2 at the moment after a 1-0 overtime win from the Hounds. Heroes have been made in these games, whether it was Avery Acres and Yor Bjorven in the first game or Ethan Ashcroft in the second and third games, or Jay Sikes who just scored the overtime winner in the last meeting between the teams, players will be appreciated by their fans for their performaces. Hounds winger Avery Acres said, "Obviously the main goal is the playoffs and a chip, but we still mark these games with Vegas on the calendar. It's always going to be a chippy game and low scoring, and we like it that way. Bjorven has already shut them out twice. We know we can't get to aggressive trying to be a hero." As the season comes to a close, these Vegas-Mississauga games will be must see TV.

One of the cooler stories of the VHLM is his upbringing and journey to hockey and the VHL. Being a kid from Atlanta, Georgia, hockey wasn’t the most common sport in his area. Growing up in a region dominated by football, baseball, and basketball, it was almost expected that he would pursue one of those. His early years were spent playing football as a running back, baseball as a shortstop, and basketball as a shooting guard. But as much as he loved competing, none of these sports truly ignited the passion he would later find in hockey. That all changed when he was 11 years old. One evening, flipping through channels at home, he stumbled upon a Game 7 matchup between the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The season has been a lot better for the Hounds who are exiting their short rebuild. After the huge Sidney Sheppard trade, the Hounds are looking to compete this year and they are getting hot. Jay Sikes, Remain Six Meters Back From Me, Acres, and Sheppard are all putting up high point numbers. Mississauga is not a team you would want to face in the playoffs if they play like they are right now. On the back side at defense, Captain Kurt Bachmann is getting a ton of hits. Goalie Yor Bjorven is looking like a potential star goalie for the Hounds next year who should return everyone except Bachmann and maybe Sheppard. ACRES Mississauga Hounds Ranked 4th In VSN VHLM Season Preview

1. Im excited and I think we can compete this year. There isn't that one team in the M this year that looks so much better than others like last season. We can definitely compete. It will also be fun to try and keep putting on the "Battle For The Milk" rivalry. There is bad blood @sadie. I think this could be our year just because of all the teams trying get ready for S100. 2. We had a really good draft in my opinion. Getting a lot of good young guys in here to try and win a chip this year or next. 3. It makes me feel like our GM cares about us, which I already knew,, because he made so many moves for us to be set up for success. Sheppard @GoodLeftUndone was a great add and he we'll definitely be the leader of our offense. 4. The one that is quick but gives a lot of TPE. (For me, it changes time to time) 5. We got the worst player in hockey out of our city for Stankoven and picks. We also picked up Jankowski who scored twice in his Canes debut. 6. It depends on the score. If @Rin has a good game, I'm going straight to him. If it's like 4-3 or 5-4, I'm going to the goal scorer.

With the offseason coming to a close, that means the VHLM draft comes. Mississauga GM @ace_five_ had spent so many hours recruiting The Milkman @THEMILKMAN. But with the 21st overall pick, Las Vegas GM @sadie took him causing a rift between the two squads. With the potential trade on the way to send him to Mississauga, Las Vegas can inflate the price for him. Mississauga RW Avery Acres @Bravebulldogs says, "Just a classless move and we will be marking each Vegas game on the calendar." This pick might be the start of a brand new rivalry.
