"With the thirty-eighth overall pick in the season 77 dispersal draft, the Las Vegas Aces select defenseman Jannik Nylen from Ejsberg of the Metal Ligaen."

Transcribed and Translated from Danish Sports Magazine "Tipsbladet" during a post-draft interview with Jannik Nylen

Reporter: "Thank you for agreeing to this interview Mr. Nylen, first off did you hear anything from any general managers in the VHLM before the draft?"

J.K: "Well, I only really heard from one, and the story is kind of funny. I received an email from the manager of Vegas, Jiggly Gumballs, that was clearly ran through google translate before it was sent. I appreciate the thought, but I don't believe he knew that I could speak English. The surprise he expressed when I sent him a reply in perfect English was priceless."

Reporter: "What kind of things did he ask about in the email he sent to you?"

J.K: "A few things were asked about, the first thing he asked was how I would describe my playstyle."

  Reporter: "Go on"

J.K:" "Well I told him that I think of myself as a responsible two-way defenseman, though I also admitted that I'm not the type to jump in on the rush and score the goals myself. I'm more of a break the puck out type of guy who supports the offense and makes sure the other guys don't get a breakaway."

Reporter: "Did he give you the feeling that he was looking to draft you?"

J.K: "Well, in a sense, yes. However that was more from the idea that he was the only one to send me a message, so I thought that I wasn't very high on any other teams' draft board, so I wasn't worth getting in contact for."

Reporter: "Going to the draft, were you surprised where you were drafted, and by whom you were drafted by?"

J.K: "I was surprised a bit that I dropped in the draft a bit. However, I can't say that I'm unhappy about how the whole ordeal went down. I wasn't actually watching it because of how late the draft happened with timezones and all. I went to bed early, intending to be up early for any sort of news or messages I received. I don't think I have ever seen my phone more blown up as much as I did that morning. When I saw who drafted me, I can't say I was surprised. I was glad, actually, that a team who has shown that they think I am worth reaching out to was the one to pick me up."

Reporter: "Did you hear anything from your teammates on Ejsberg?"

J.K: "Yeah, a few of the guys from there wished me good luck. They also invited me to skate with them during the offseason when I'm visiting home, I told them I'd let them touch the championship cup when I get back. Some might call it cocky, I call it confidence. I'm going to miss those guys though."

Reporter: "Thank you for your time Mr. Nylen, good to speak with you."

  J.K: "You as well."
