Hello everyone, and welcome to a quick draft update. I threw together a stats spreadsheet and figured I would use it for an article, so here is some content for you to (hopefully) enjoy.

Leading the way in the first ten games of the season is David Tavau of the Saskatoon Wild. Eight players find themselves scoring at a point-per-game pace, including three defensemen. Zarek Kaczka’s start in particular becomes even more impressive when you consider that he is a defenseman with the least amount of time on ice per game in this entire list.

Tied with six goals apiece, Sven Reikkinen and Anze Miklavz top the goal charts for the S78 class so far. Miklavz has scored all of his goals at even strength, while Reikkinen and Markinson each have four powerplay goals. Hard Markinson is shooting at over 29% at the moment, which is simply not sustainable. However, he is the type of talent who will likely maintain a very high goal-scoring rate by increasing his volume of shots.

Despite having a more offensively focused build, Watson Stonebridge is off to an exceptional start in the defensive end. With fifty-five PK minutes already and eighteen hits, Stonebridge is proving that he is a valuable two-way threat on the ice. Projected 1st overall pick Hard Markinson finds himself high up on another list, tying Philadelphia forward Charlie fraser for most hits. Markinson is the type of player who could very easily end up on top of multiple lists by the end of the season.

Moving on to shots blocked, Mexico City defender Tui Sova tops the list with nineteen. Sova is averaging a stunning six minutes per game on the PK so far, which becomes even more impressive since he is playing in just under twenty-one minutes per game. Three defensemen make their presence known in the early stages of the season by appearing on all four lists; Those players would be Zarek Kaczka, Hard Markinson and Sven Reikkinen.

Houston netminder Aike van Giersbergen has kicked off the season unbelievably well, holding down the fort in H-Town with a league-leading .920 save percentage. Johnson and Protagonist are also off to decent starts, playing in every one of their teams first nine games.

Last week was a solid one for the draft class in terms of TPE earning, and it was headlined by Anze Miklavz putting up 12 capped + 12 uncapped for 24 total TPE. Zarek Kaczka and Mr Duk each passed 100 TPE, making them the eleventh and twelfth players to do so.

Ten players capped out last week; This was the first time doing so for Sylvester, Sova, Miklavz and Lemieux.

Hard Markinson, Nils Tallinder, Luc Tessier, Brock Hampton, Tui Sova and Anze Miklavz have all earned every capped TPE available to them.

That will conclude this rundown of the S78 draft class early in their draft season, and I will try to provide regular updates like these. Hopefully I will also be able to beef up the writing content in the future, as this was not a very well-planned out article by any means. I wish everyone the best of luck with their teams this season, and hopefully this class of players can be a special one!
