tcookie 897
As the Riga Reign's fortunes have begun to turn around this season, so too have those of winger Addison McLaren, who has finally started to find the offensive success that Riga had hoped for when they drafted him eighth overall. After a 37-point rookie season (though he did have 282 hits), McLaren worked hard on his skating, strength, and puck handling over the off-season and has looked like a better player in his sophomore campaign. Though he started slow again, both McLaren and the Reign are playing better as of late. McLaren has 12 goals and 20 points in 26 games, and he's scored a goal in six straight games. Meanwhile, Riga has gone 8-4-1 in their last 13 games and have started to ascend from the basement, although there's still work to be done. They sit 10-14-2 and 7th in the European Conference, 4 points back of Davos for the final playoff spot. It's not where they'd hoped to be, but it's better than it was. McLaren, meanwhile, hopes to be able to keep his improved play going and contribute to wins. "It's been nice to play like I know I'm capable of and to contribute to our team's success. At the end of the day it's all about those wins and I try to bring various elements to the game. It's always nice to chip in on the scoresheet and I'm sure they've been expecting that out of me."
