Unfortunately, the up-and-almost-here-but-not-quite elite defenseman of the Riga Reign, Phil Villeneuve, may have suffered a tremendous blow to his aspirations as an elite VHL defenseman.

He was seen walking into the VHL Player Store and dropping $4.5 Million on Triple predictions points.

Now, for a player who's making $3 Million a season, that is probably not the wisest investment and his financial advice should definitely need to questions his choice in profession.

This all came about yesterday after the Open, one of the Golf Majors Tournaments, which concluded in Britain yesterday. Rory McInroy one, becoming the youngest British golfer to ever win it. He joins only 11 people to ever have one 3 of the 4 majors.

Rory finished -17 for the tournament

But that's not what stems this splurg. One decade ago, when Rory was just 15 years old, his dad put a bet down for him to with the Open before he finished his 25th year of life.

So not only does Rory walk away with a nice chunk of money... so does his dad - $350,000 to be exact.

Thus Villeneuve has succumb to the idiosyncrasies of gambling.

The face of a wash-up?

Hopefully it will pay off for him less he becomes a useless wash-up of a VHL player.
