bigAL 2,176
Welp, that happened. DC’s bad season is over, and thank fuck for that. The Dragons entered the season with high expectations. As long as Stone Wolski is on the team, the competitive window is open in DC. Add in Groovy Dood’s prime year, and a flurry of offseason acquisitions focusing on the one weakness we had, and we could’ve challenged this season. Classic DC, the team started off slow. This year was slower than usual, but we always start slow. By the half way mark though, we were still in dead last. Due to playing in the weak NA conference, dead last was actually not that far out of the playoff picture. The fourth and fifth spots were wide open, and with all the other bottom half teams standing pat, DC chose to go all in. We traded away our first and projects to Moscow for some forward depth in Jay Jones and Ryan Schwarz. They helped drag us out of the basement, but not into the playoffs. The worst part of all of this is Groovy Dood. I can handle individual failure if the team is winning, and I can handle team failure if the individual is killing it, but once the dust settles on S77, no one is winning anything. Dood led the league in points and goals for most of the season until the trade deadline, when he bonked his head and forgot how to play hockey. I’m afraid to look at the leaderboard right now, but with the resurgence of Andrew Su and some Warsaw goons, Groovy Dood would be lucky to be top 5 in goals and points. RIP S77 Dragons. Onwards and upwards. Spartan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/102491-s77-one-to-forget-for-dc/ Share on other sites

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to win a 4th straight, but it’s far from a done deal. bigAL 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/102491-s77-one-to-forget-for-dc/#findComment-842186 Share on other sites

Finished 5th in goals, 3rd in points. The home stretch just killed everything DC... It’s rare for someone to dominate the full season, usually things either start slow and pick up or they start hot and slow down over time. Still, I would 100% out you in discussion for the Boulet for sure. Campbell is likely out of your reach having missed the playoffs and Slobo seems unlikely but te Boulet is a definite possibility. bigAL 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/102491-s77-one-to-forget-for-dc/#findComment-842397 Share on other sites
