Things that I have done well and mistakes I have made during my time here.

 

It is 2:01am on a Monday morning and I can’t sleep and haven’t done any tasks this week so here we go. I thought it would be a good way of looking back at my two years here.

 

Firstly, let me go through some things that I have done. AGM of Mississauga Hounds under Gustav, GM of Halifax for 7 days, GM of Mississauga Hounds for 2 seasons, AGM of Davos under Gustav, Updater & VSN Podcaster.

 

What I think I succeeded at VSN Podcaster, what I think I passed at Updater & AGM roles, what I think I failed at GM role.

 

As I am a glass half full kind of guy let me start with the positives. My role as the VSN Podcaster…

 

So, it started well when I did my first podcasts interviewing some of the local VHLers. I think these episodes are still pretty good and I would recommend listening to them if you want to know anything about my guests. There was a lull in the quality when I was doing them solo. However, with Dasboot coming on board really upped the quality and made it more listenable in my opinion.

 

Next what I think I did alright at. Updater, this I started off being a lot more invested in then what I am doing now. There are a lot more people who are carrying a majority of the weight of updating and I jump in every now and then to do it. Updating is a very time-consuming job and I can see it cause a lot of burn out with a lack of updaters. My AGM roles were not really very managerial. I just spent time in the locker room trying to keep it kind of active, I think this was successful and I must have done alright that Gustav rehired me I enjoy the friend building aspect but I do not really enjoy the managing side of it all.

 

Now to continue this is what I did poorly and that was being an actual GM. Anyone who was a GM around the time I was know that I was not good at trading but honestly I have no mind for the whole GMing aspect. I don’t like being the main point between winning and losing. If I don’t draft well or trade well, I ruin my chances. You have to keep up to date with lines especially in the M with people coming in and out all the time. You have to make sure that everyone stays happy the whole time. People will always want more ice time, people will always want to win more and being a good GM is being able to keep everyone happy and do well. I was not to good at that and it sent me into a not great place. Being messaged all the time to make the players better and everything especially being in a different time zone it kinda sucked.

It was the Intriguing title that brought me here to read, whatever this was. Probably should've listened and not have read this.  I didn't really know where you were going with this at first but it turned out to be more of a tooting of your own horn and listing off your non player related accomplishments. This was clearly the bare mininum to be able to get a point task going. There was no use of quotes or imagery.
