The one where I reveal my VHLM awards votes (aka the correct answers)

hi VHLM community, last season i made a post about how VHL awards voting is dumb because there was no accountability and shit, so i have decided to write some reasonings on who I voted for in the VHLM awards. If you are unaware, the minors GMs are the voters. With the exception of the playoff MVP, all of these were done on April 26th. I did the playoff MVP awards right before posting.
 

Mitch Higgins Trophy - Most Valuable Player
Willy Myers - 59G 54A 113P
Honestly a no brainer here. Myers dominated the scoresheet and carried Houston into the playoffs early despite a massive losing streak later into the season. Myers was the single most important player to the Houston teams success and without them it’s unlikely they would make the playoffs at all.

Ryan Sullivan Trophy - Top Defenseman
Shaggy Tipton - 32G 66A 98P 150H 81SB
Yeah this award sucks because we can’t actually tell how good a defenseman is. The same issue comes with Two-Way Forward so it’s really a crapshoot for both of those awards. I picked Shaggy Tipton because he had a crazy offensive stat line. Ranogajec was the best defensive defenseman, and put up good points too, but the 30 goals is very nice for Tipton. Decent enough PIM-to-hit ratio even though 150 is rookie numbers.

Benoit Devereux Trophy - Top Goaler
Luke Spinelli
Another no brainer here. Spinelli was dominant all season and a major part of Missisagua’s success in the regular season. One of three starters above .900, his impressive 2.15 GAA is the reason I have chosen him. Not really much to say here, could possibly make the debate for the honourable mentions because they were playing behind worse defensive teams, so I will not be majorly surprised if someone else wins it.

Matt Bentz Trophy - Top Two-Way Forward
Kyle Glass - 43G 46A 89P 218H 16SB
Halifax’s best bet for MVP, Glass gets my vote for two way forward. This is kind of a shit award in general because STHS sucks at tracking defensive stats (as previously mentioned). Two other forwards had more hits, but Craig and Nugget were significantly worse offensively and got a lot more penalty minutes. Hard to vote against Glass here in my opinion.

Jack Reilly Award - Top Executive 
Advantage - Mexico City Kings
Alright so here’s the most controversial take I have and will probably get a couple of kekw’s. Here is my reasoning: The VHLM is not about winning. Holy fuck is the boom/bust meta of the VHLM absolute dogshit. I have no reason to vote for teams at the top because in the next 2 seasons their locker rooms will become a gulag. Advantage gets my vote because he inherited absolutely nothing that was on pace for a 4 win season until he picked up waiver players, kept them engaged, and built them into real VHL talent. Hopefully he doesn’t become a boomer/buster and ruins my all-important S77 Jack Reilly Award vote

Skyler Rift Award - Playoff MVP
Clapbombsrus - Miami Marauders
Too lazy for the stats, he was the best player. Like 3 people had 19 points, and 19 is pretty low for VHLM playoff standards, so the scorers are out and that leaves the best goaler in the tournament, Clapbombsrus.
