Luke Thornton had an amazing regular season performance. He had himself 41 goals, which is the first time in his career, with 85 points. He was also a +17, 289 hits with only 115 penalty minutes and he reached the +20 shots blocked as well. One part of his game that he would like to improve is to make an impact on the powerplay. He only has 6 power play goals while the other top scorers in the league have around 16 goals. Anyway, he has been good all around statistically and he can finally say that he had himself a successfully season in the VHL.

 

Now it's time for the playoff. He has shown that he can be a very physically player in the playoff and that he can put up points on the board. He has 10 points in 14 games in the playoff so far with 75 hits. That's around 7 hits a game which is qui good for a power forward. The one thing that had him worried is being bad defensively when the playoff comes around. It's something that he needs to be very aware of and he will be thinking very hard on expecting right defensive play for the team so that we can win. He also needs to make sure that he doesn't take any bad penalties.

 

Anyway, in the s74 class. He's one of the few that have not tasted any team playoff success so far and it might become frustrating. He's seen a lot of his classmates being successful and he believe he should have some as well after 5 whole seasons. If it ends up becoming another big dissapointment in the first round, Luke Thornton off-season will finally be making some noises....
