Had a few ideas but they probably would have been lengthy so instead I'm going to talk about my raw experiences as GM so far and the things I'm looking forward to next season. In the first 24 hours after being announced I would be taking over as the Ottawa Lynx GM the shock and excitement definitely got me, never expected my name to be called with all the big applications in the hat and looking at the current rotation I knew whoever came in had a lot of pressure, I guess if you try so many times it finally pays off! Right away my brain was telling me to chill but I dove right in and got to business.. Step 1: Message the assistant. Big props to JB for having a draft list, pre-draft interviews done and some experience from last season because it really helped, specially during a hectic time of the week and season. With a little inspiration from the assistant during this step I dug deeper than I ever did before, all the way to the bottom of the fish tank, looking at player profiles, keeping an updated draft list and entertaining ideas of potential trades along the way.. Barley getting any sleep but it was worth the experience! Step 2: Get a base team and I think we accomplished that, we already had household names like Raider, Aky and Waffles but adding players like Baard and Parise to the mix will help keep us above water early in the season while prospects like Calamari and Lajeuneese have plenty of ice-time to develop their skills along the way. Step 3: Now I got to continue to be available, active enough to keep up with the newest members and learn even more than I thought I did, oh yeah and continue earning points for my character! Again I'm happy to have an assistant by my side during this journey and look forward to see how our team stacks up against the rest of the league, big thank you to the staff for giving me the opportunity and I hope to become a good manager, possibly a great one GO LYNX GO
