Daniel Janser 2,213
Swiss Central Gazzette Since last we wrote about our intrepid heroes four games were played and interesting developments on the Hounds' roster occurred. The first match was against the Houston Bulls which the Hounds conceded 3-2. It was a very close match and it is not easy to pinpoint the reasons why the Hounds were not able to bring some points back home. The Bulls had a very strong 10 minutes at the end of the first/beginning of the second period, where they scored three consecutive goals. Apart from that, it was just one of these days you cannot win, regardless of your performance. The shoots were almost equal (30 vs 27 in the Bull's favour), the Hounds had the better special teams (1/7 powerplay and 6/6 penalty kill, which is decent), the goalkeeper had a .900 save rate but was bested by Hroch with a .926 in that category. Marcel scored a highlight reel goal via the crossbar from the point in powerplay on passes from Bedard and his brother Daniel 13:37 into the third. The coach pulled the goalie with one and a half minutes still to play, but to no avail. The three stars were Godlander (1g/0a), Delle Donne (0g/2a) as well as Glove Dropper (1g/0a) and we think Hroch was robbed for not being on the podium. Marcel logged 1g, 0a, -1 and 26:03 minutes played (tied best with Daniel and Bedard) Daniel had 0g, 1a, -1 and 26:03 minutes time on ice. The next game against the Reapers was a close call as well and the Hounds started well into the game with two unanswered goals in the first period. Bedard scored with a sweet deke 22 seconds after face off, assisted by Lospenov and Daniel. The Philly team pulled two back in the second period though and so at the beginning of the third period, the game started anew. The Reapers scored the 4-3 with 14:03 into the last period and made it a one goal lead. In an act of desperation, the Hounds pulled the goalie, but the risk was not only not awarded but punished instead, as the Pennsylvanians scored an empty netter with 48 seconds left on the clock. The Hounds had 0/5 power play and 2/3 penalty killing success rate, which was not enough this time to steal some points. Reaper's netminder Des Aves was clearly better (.903 vs .833) than his opposite number even though the Hounds outshot their opponent 31 vs 25. The three stars were Delisle (2g/0a), Simeoni (2g/0a) and Bedard (1g/0a). Marcel had 0g, 0a, +1 Daniel recorded 0g, 1a, +1 and 25:02 minutes played (top of his team) After this match, the Hounds' management decided to release Slaney as well as Hall to free agency, as their development did not match the franchise's expectations. This will certainly not make things easier for the Mississaugan outfit in the near future. The first game after this breaking news was against the Wild and was lost 5-3. The remarkable statistic is that on 5vs5 the Hounds win this game 1-3. However, their penalty killing was a tire fire (4/8) and the power play inexistant (0/2). The game was decided in the middle period, when the Wild scored three unanswered goals (two of them in a 2'+2' power play, converting both opportunities into goals). Daniel scored a goal 11:24 minutes into the game with a slapshot from the high slot which went in via post. Marcel was screening for his brother so that the Saskatoon netminder saw the puck too late and had no chance to react in time. The goalkeepers showed an average match with .870 (SSK) and .853 (MIS) respectively. The three stars were Jankowski (1g/3a), Fingers (2g/0a) and Eklund (0g/4a) Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, +0, 7 hits, 4sb as well as 25:32 minutes played (tied first with Bedard) Daniel had 1g, 0a, +0 The fourth and final match covered in this article was lost to the Marauders with 1-5 and it has to be said that this match was largely decided by the goaltenders with Jarvinen showing a stellar performance (.972 saved shots) and the Hounds netminder pulling a really bad day (.773). At the end of the second period, the Marauders had a three-nothing lead and did nurse this advantage in the final period. The Hounds scored once to make the game 3-1 (Daniel had an assist in this goal) but the Miami team scored twice thereafter to which the Hounds had no answer. The Mississaugan penalty kill was immaculate (4/4) and the power play was adequate (1/4). The three stars were Chiang (2g/2a), D 1g/3a) and Nuzuki (2g/0a). We think that Jarvinen was changed short for not being nominated one of the spots in the lime light. Marcel logged 0g, 0a, -1, and 4 PIM (both times for roughing) Daniel showed 0g, 1a, -3 and 2 PIM (holding the stick) Here the brothers' stats so far: Marcel 25gp, 5g, 10a, 15pts, -3, 18 PIM, 20 hits, 59sb, 2ppg Daniel 25gp, 11g, 18a, 29pts, -5, 6 PIM, 55 hits, 10sb, 1gwg, 4ppg We would be sorely amiss if we did not mention that Daniel was named the standout player in the VSN article by @ajwllmsn 'S80 under 200 Power Rankings' (link below, bottom of the list) Please find related articles here: https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109416-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ AJW and N0HBDY 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/ Share on other sites
Greg_Di 1,028
Review: My favorite series in the media spots! You're whipping these out at a crazy fast pace which is great but it would be good to save them and post once a week as you can only get 6tpe / week for 1 media spot. Either way I always love following the story and how each of the games are going. I would still recommend to add a picture, it doesn't have to be photo shopped for a media spot, can you find a google image that relates to the story. Once again well done and keep up the good work 9/10 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/#findComment-877953 Share on other sites
