A Glimpse Into the Future: Rusty Cannon

Rusty Cannon is a man's man of a hockey player.  Gigantic, strong and a good skater, Cannon won't wow you offensively, but can bring it on the defensive end.  After signing with the Ottawa Lynx this past season, he has made an immediate impact on the backend for the Lynx who swept their first round matchup.  He is easily one of the strongest players in the VHLM and plays the role of stalwart.  He won't really get PP time or move the puck effectively up the ice.  However, he will be as reliable as it gets in his own zone.

When speaking to scouts, Cannon most closely resembles the Scott Stevens that patrolled the blueline in his prime.  Incredibly physical and known for lining opponents up, with great defensive work and good skating mixed with farmer strength, Cannon projects as a #2 defender in the VHL that can be paired with someone much more offensively inclined.

Cannon continues his journey in the playoffs and while he is pointless thus far, he is after a much greater prize.  Not someone who has won all that much at any level, Cannon is hoping to end some of that past with a Founders Cup Victory as a member of the Ottawa Lynx.
