I'm not a GM, but usually lurk around the Create-A-Player page to greet newcomers and help get them started so they can work their player to the top .

 

The first thing I would recommend is heading on over to the newcomers guide found in the VHL Portal.

 

You'll find some pretty good explanations on the following topics:

• Beginners guide to building a goalie
• How to earn TPE (Capped & Uncapped)
• The three leagues and their differences

For now, you can just sign with any VHLM team (which you will make more sense of when you go through the rules)
