Bobby Ricky looks to becomes a Pro

18-year-old Bobby Ricky from North Dakota is ready to join the professional ranks of hockey. From an unknown high school in North Dakota, Ricky’s game went mostly unnoticed by scouts and got no offers to play college hockey but decided on the pro game instead. It may be tough for Ricky to see time on the ice early on for any team he signs for but he may have the potential to become a very good player.

Reports from a scout from his hometown University of North Dakota state that he is very raw on his passing skills and doesn’t play a physical style of hockey but instead attempts to play a more finesse game even though he isn’t quick enough for that either. His one strength is his scoring ability, he has the ability to become a great goal-scorer on any level with enough practice time and match time on the ice. However, while he may have great goal-scoring potential, his selfish attitude on and off the ice could come back to haunt any team that signs him. The scout ended up grading him out as a C- total with a grade of B+ for goal scoring but everything else was no higher than a C.

Bobby Ricky will look to join one of the VHL minor league teams in hopes to get his professional career started before moving onto the VHL with time. Despite being unable to secure a college scholarship, there should be some interest in the VHL for at least some sort of trial till the end of the season to see what kind of development Ricky can make. However, his short fuse and wanting to score at all costs could turn off a lot of GM’s in the VHL and maybe even in their minor league system. One thing to remember is that he is still only a 18-year-old kid that was brought up learning how to shoot and score the puck from a young age. Bobby Ricky was always learning new scoring moves from watching games on TV and playing videogames but all of his concern about goal scoring led him to demand the puck at all times and never pass even when getting put into bad spots. That mindset has led to plenty of fights on and off the ice but not with the other team, with his own team.

This will be a story to follow closely as Bobby Ricky signs with a VHL minor league team soon and works his way through the system. If he can find a way to mature, Ricky could be one of the best goal-scorers the VHL has ever seen, but if he keeps his current mindset, Ricky won’t even make it to the VHL unless he’s working in the concessions.
