Welcome back to another edition of Inside the Mind, a column written by Darsh Albesh. The player that this column normally is centered around has move from the VHLM into the VHLE, therefore we will be covering the VHLE and his team, the Geneva Rush. 

 

Last weekend was a big few days for the VHL with the VHL, VHLM and VHLE drafts happening one after another. Before the draft it was announced that the Yukon Rush and Minnesota Storm were moving from the VHLM to the VHLE becoming the Geneva Rush and Oslo Storm. To avoid an expansion draft, the VHLE commissioners decided to add 2 pick to each round which would be owned by Geneva and Oslo. With the 3rd pick belonging to Geneva, they chose Right Winger Zaza Colors who had 122 points in 72 games with the Yukon Rush last season. At 10th overall Geneva drafted Centre Sergey Preobrazhensky who had 89 points in 64 games with the San Diego Marlins. Finally at 13th overall Defensemen George Sanderson was drafted by the Rush. Sanderson finished last season with 52 points in 72 games with the Philadelphia Reapers. 

 

In the VHL draft, Sanderson was also taken in the 2nd round but at 17th overall by the Toronto Legion, his line mate from last season was also drafted by Toronto with their 5th overall pick. In 5 games so far this season Geneva has lost all 5, some by large margins whiles others only by 1 goal.  George Sanderson has 7 points in 5 games with a -1 and 21 hits.
