rory 1,953
LOS ANGELES - Former Wolves defensemen Jeffrey Pines was given his day with the Continental Cup following the teams season opener in the City of Angels. Then Wolf, and current general manager for the Los Angeles Stars had a quick meeting with his old teammates during an impromptu locker room ring ceremony. The defensemen was traded from the team he currently runs - which some reporters believe he was already operating in the general manager position during the last season. Pines' change of scenery on the young Wolves was clearly an career revival for the old man, as he nearly put up his best season in the VHL (including his long stint as a center) in only 47 games played, earning him a nod for the Alexander Valiq trophy, his first career nomination. The Stars would win the season opener 6-5, thanks to a hat trick from forward Its Gucci, and five assists from free agent acquisition Jan Hlozek.
