Jan Hlozek made headlines when he opted to swap Europe for the West Coast when he signed for the Los Angeles Stars in free agency.

The Czech defenceman looks to be truly having a breakout season in California, racking up 28 points in his first 20 games as the Stars began their S81 campaign in convincing fashion.

The Stars currently sit in 2nd place in the NA Conference, and look well on their way to another successful campaign, and Hlozek said that he was thrilled to be part of a team that was competitive every night.

“It’s been a great experience here so far. The team has the right mentality, and that’s why I signed here. The guys expect a lot from themselves, and we know we have the talent to be winning every night. Sure, that doesn’t happen all the time, but either way, it’s been a great start to the season,” Hlozek said.

Speaking on his own hot form, the Czech blueliner said that his personal success came second to the team’s success.

“For me, winning is number one. I’m just glad that I’m able to contribute to the team’s success so far. I have fantastic linemates, who are finishing the chances that I’ve been able to create so far. We have a long way to go, but the signs are good,” he said.
