Calgary Loses 6 in a Row

The Calgary Wranglers got off to a hot start, which propelled them straight to 1st in the league early in the season. Unfortunately for them, they've now lost 6 in a row, and these last couple of games took them out of 1st. Let's take a look at some of their recent losses.

This game was one which at the time looked like a favourite for Calgary to win. The 1st Period saw Calgary outshoot Warsaw 13-9, but it was an uneventful one where it ended 0-0. In the 2nd Period, the Wranglers got a goal after the halfway point from Nils Tallinder, to make the game 1-0, but this is where things started to fall apart. In the last 5 minutes of the 2nd Period, the floodgates opened and the Warsaw Predators would show their offense. At 15:26, Chris Reynolds scored his 19th of the season, and then Calgary proceeded to take some penalties. Lucifer Olivier Leveque got a delay of game penalty, then 37 seconds later, goaltender Sirkants Klamasteris got a slashing penalty, bringing Warsaw to a 5on3 powerplay. Hadrian would score his 8th of the season on the PP, and with 8 seconds left in the period, Brian Moreau scored his 17th to bring this game to a 3-1 score. In the 3rd Period, the Warsaw Predators picked up where they left off and scored 2 goals 8 seconds apart, with Muffbeav and Chicken Wing getting the markers. 5-1 score. At 8:29, Calgary's Nathan Perry would make it less of a clobbering with a goal and a 5-2 score, but Erlantz Jokinen got a hooking call, and Muffbeav capitalized on the PP bringing this game to 6-2. Penalties were obviously an issue in this game for Calgary, but Warsaw outshot them 47-28, so it's hard to blame it on the PK. Warsaw's Andrew Bowman saved 26 of 28.

In Calgary's most recent game, this was another problematic one with undisciplined play. In the 1st Period, LA's AJ Williams scored early to make this a 1-0 game. Around the halfway point of the period, Calgary's Nils Tallinder and Phil The Rock Johnson scored 2 quick goals to give Calgary a 2-1 lead. But, at the 14:00 mark, Stars player Jan Hlozek tied the game at 2-2. In the 2nd Period, things started to fall apart a bit for the Wranglers, but not before Gustislav Nasherov made it 3-2 for them at the 9:31 mark. Less than 2 minutes after that 3-2 goal, Tom Eagles would take a goaltender interference penalty and LA would make them pay. Vick Fairchild scored a PP goal, and under a minute later, Joe Madison scored, and all of a sudden this was a 4-3 hockey game for the LA Stars. LA outshot Calgary 21-9 in the period. In the 3rd, it was more undisciplined play for the Calgary Wranglers. Erlantz Jokinen took an interference call early, and Joe Madison scored his 2nd of the game, this time on the PP, to bring this to a 5-3 score. At 12:08, Lucifer Olivier Leveque gave the Wranglers some hope with a 5-4 goal, to bring them within 1. But it was yet another penalty for Calgary, with Tom Eagles getting a boarding call, and LA scoring yet another PP goal. Joe Madison would seal this one with a hat trick goal on the PP, and the game would end 6-4.

One this is for sure, and it's that the Calgary Wranglers need to stop taking so many penalties. It's killing them in their recent games.

Review:

This is a great media spot from start to finish. Starting with a simple but clean and bold title, to narrowing in on the last couple games with team banners that fit in well. That’s a rough past few days for the wranglers. Your game breakdowns are awesome, talking about key points in the game during the loses. Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season! 9.5/10
