The season is moving forward at a fast pace. Soon the trade deadline is here, so I thought I share a tip on how you can approach this potential career-changing time.

If you don't have an NTC on your contract, you have already messed up. You are perhaps wondering does that mean you should take it easy and lay low? No. You need to do the exact opposite. You need to start making noise. If you are on a team that is not doing so well, you must call your GM and coaches out publicly. Create a media spot or podcast where you talk about the situation. Throw in a few swear words to show you are serious. The point is to try to force your GM to show their hand and at the same time you are making yourself less likely to be traded, some teams are iffy about bringing in players who are outspoken and willing to go public.

If you are worried about the potential damage that a tactic like that will have on your relationship between you and the GM/coaches you really should think about these things when you negotiate a contract, get that NTC in there.
