As it is in every sports league there are going to be some over achievers, you could say they are in a league of their own. That’s who I will be talking about today, the players inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Brett Slobodzian

Brett was a great talent in the first year of the VHL as he played for the Calgary Wranglers. He started in his first season with a grand total of an outstanding 171 points including inside that was 79 Goals and 92 Assists in only 72 Games. In the playoffs the Wranglers were obviously the heavy favorite and looked to be so until in the finals they faced the Vasteras IK in which they were upset. In 10 Games Played for Slobodzian he tallied up 10 Goals and 9 Assists for 19 Points. After a utterly superb season the year before heading into the next season it was a hard task to beat which he did not meet. Even though he did not beat his point total from the year before he did stil have a great year with 64 Goals and 61 Assists in 72 Games for a total of 125 Points in the regular season. Brett led the league in scoring with a 36 point gap and led his team into the playoffs once again where the Wranglers were unmatched. They went on to win the Continental Cup in the postseason where he had 25 points in 11 Games. Heading into his 3rd season his point total once again jumps up as he goes from 125 Points the previous year to a staggering 154 the next. Brett has produced for the Wrangler extensively through his first 3 years in the league as he builds up 76 Goals and 78 Assists. He once again leads the Wrangler to the playoffs as he produces 12 Goals and 12 Assists in 11 games in the postseason. The Wranglers won another championship but not to the fault of their opponents as they were in dogfights with the Toronto Legion to win the conference and with the Helienski Titans to win the league in a brutal 7 game series. Slobodzian was only beaten out by the likes of another Hall of Fame goaltender by the name of Maxim Desny. In the offseason of season 3 is where everything changed where he suffered a traumatic knee injury in the offseason ehich required him to get his ACL and MCL ligaments completely reconstructed. Even with the injury he was still able to catch a total of 40 Goals and 43 Assists for 83 Points in 72 Games. This season shows how much Brett did for the team as with him not producing at his usual level the team does not make the playoffs. In the end he did not ever get back to form as he did in his first 3 seasons as he played his last season in the VHL and tallied up a total of 46 Goals and 57 Assists for a total of 103 Points. The Wranglers got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs in 6 Games. But returning to form in the playoffs he got 11 Points in those 6 Games. In the end Slobodzian played 360 Games Played and in those games he got a grand total of 636 Points which includes 305 points and 331 Assists in the regular season throughout his career along with 79 Points in the playoffs. Along with his wonderful career he also one a monstrous amount of awards including The Victory Cup (S1,S3), The Punch Imlach Memorial Trophy (S1,S2,S3), The Gretzky Trophy (S1,S3), Lemieux Trophy (S1,S3), The Joe Malone Memorial Trophy (S1,S3), The Mikita Trophy (S1,S3), North American Conferance All Star (S1,S3), Continental Cup (S2,S3), Sam Pollock Memorial Trophy (S2), Howe Trophy (S2), Team Canada Member (S2,S4), Bronze Medalist (S2), Gold Medalist (S4), Francis Trophy (S3). At the end of his career Brett Slobodzian had an outstanding career and went down into the history books in Season 6 getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Alex McNeil

McNeil is a 6’1 Center from Toronto and wass drafted in the S1 Dispersal Draft by his hometown team as he is sent to Toronto. Alex did not have as good a start as the previous inductee but his impact on the league as one of the most underrated players out there is why he got inducted. In his first season in 72 Games he was able to net 15 Goals and dish out 44 Assists for a total of 59 Points for a pretty solid rookie season for him. Though McNeil had a solid season the Toronto Legion were not able to make the playoffs in the first season. He also finished 10th in scoring for defensman as glimpses of glory are already starting to shine through. In his second season in the league he changed to forward and it is immediately showing the damage he can do on the offensive front as he buries 24 Goals and gets 59 Assists for a total of 83 Points in 72 games in his second season. The impact of McNeil at Center pushes the team into the playoffs where they lose in the 7 games to the Calgary Wranglers who were a heavy favorite in round one. In those 7 games he was able to bank 3 Goals and get 6 Apple (Assists) along with 12 Penalty Minutes and 4 Hits. Although he had trugged into the playoffs with the Legion they would deal him off in a massive 3 way trade including the Seattle Bears and Avangard in which McNeil was traded to. In Season 3 he had a wonderful seasonhas he got 106 Points and within that he got 44 Goals and 62 Assists in the 72 Game season. Even though he has had his best season yet Avangarddoes not make the playoffs and Alex goes right into the offseason without any playoffs. In his 4th season he had his season split between two teams as he started the season with the Avangard Havoc where in the 24 Games he played with them that season he got 14 Goals and 18 Assists for 32 points. After that point and for the rest of the season for the Seattle Bears who were one of the teams included in the three way trade that had torn him away from Toronto. With Seattle he plays the final 47 Games and gets 33 Goals and 61 Assists for a blazing 94 Points. On a contending team now McNeil and the Bears head into the playoffs where the Bears go on in 11 Games to win the Continental Cup where McNeil got 6 Goals and 11 Assists for 17 Points. He heads on into the next season and decides to stick with the success of the Seattle Bears as they come off that championship. You can see why he stayed as he plays the full season with them and is able to put 68 Goals in the back of the net and 94 Assists on his teammates sticks which leads to his best season so far getting a total of 162 Points and once again making it to the playoffs with the Bears. The Bears win another Continental Cup as they have a win in the finals over the champion of the European Conference who this year was Helienski. The next year is where things start to go downhill as he starts the season with the Bears as they once again come off the success of the previous season but only after 3 Games in which he netted 2 Goals and 5 Assists for 7 Points he was traded due to the GM Derik Harland took a different direction with his team as he looks to future stars and young guns to replace is older and veteran players. Can you guess who he was traded to, right back to the team that he had his worst years on, Avangard. He heads back to play for the Havoc and in 66 Games he is able to put in 38 Goals and 53 Assists for 91 Points. He led Avangard into the playoffs as was expected for a player of his level as he gets 5 Goals and 2 Assists for 7 pints as the Havoc get knocked out in the first round to the Helsinki Titans in 6 Games. After his 6th season he retired with his many awards including the North American Conference All Star (S1,S4,S5), European Conferance All Star (S3), The Continental Cup (S4,S5), The Victory Cup (S4,S5), The Punch Imlach Memorial Trophy (S4,S5), Delvecchio Trophy (S4), Team Canada Member (S4), Gold Medalist (S4) as he finished his whole career with a grand total of 238 Goals and 396 Assists which equals up to 634 Points in 428 Games in his astounding and impactive career.

These are some of the most notable players in the early years of the league and they will be remembered in the hall of fame.
