Linholm Returning to Form

After spending a couple months away from practicing in the VHL, it seems that Swedish star Jakob Linholm is slowly regaining his form and work ethic that made him one of the top picks in the draft a few short seasons ago. Linholm has become a regular at the Cologne practice facilities and that has got to have the management team excited.

Linholm has also taken the initiative to become more active in the Cologne community, appearing a public events and staying after practices to take pictures and sign autographs. While this season may not be a championship one for the Express, the fans have embraced the team and are looking forward to what the future may hold. A lot of their stars have signed contract extensions, including Linholm who signed on for a five-year deal.

"It does feel good to be out on the ice and trying to help get this team to the Continental Cup. While most people aren't giving us a real shot at the cup but we do have a great group of guys in the locker room and a bunch of hard workers. While we are currently not in the playoffs we are hoping to make a push for them and then anything can happen in the playoffs. I really believe that we have a great core of guys here and that's why I signed on for five years. The fans here have also been great and it feels good to give back to the community who has embraced me. It was tough coming from New York to here but the guys in the locker room and fans have made the transition really easy. I feel like we have all the ingredients to put together a championship squad and are a few key moves away from really being competitive in this league."

Linholm has been having a pretty decent year for the Express, despite not practicing for the first few months of the season. He has 52 points in 60 games so far this season and has only spent 23 minutes in the penalty box. He has performed well for the Express but no where near his potential. With the Express currently rebuilding, this season has been a write-off for them as they have been looking to gain a top pick so that they can quicken the rebuild they will be going through and battle for the cup sooner rather than later.

With the current core of players of Linholm, Logan Laich, Ron World Peace, Blaine Olynick and others, if the General Manager makes the correct moves and everything works out for the Express, there is no reason to think that they won't be challenging for the cup in the next few years.

Things could get very exciting in Cologne.
