I've never been more aware and self conscious about my attention issues than when editing this podcast. I threw in some nice background music since it's a 6 point podcast this time though, so that's nice.

Post as many PC questions as you'd like. You need at least 6 asked/answered in order to claim for the max 2 TPE.

 

Good luck as Oslo AGM, it'll be a project that needs a lot of effort. I think you seem like a good person for the role from your time in the JST and from what I've seen of you around the league.

 

For TPE completion, I think that these kinds of efforts to tell people how to earn/how much more to earn should stem from a GM/AGM. We want to focus on these user to user interactions, instead of trying to automate literally everything. New player guides exist, I believe one is pinned in the media spot section. But yeah, I generally think that a GM and their AGM can provide a lot of what you want new users to see, except it'd be mouth to mouth flow of information and guidance instead of some kind of portal feature.

It seems like you're absolutely right about Oslo, starting from the bottom means that any progress is a success though! Whether my enthusiasm will translate into success as an AGM remains to be seen.

 

I think you're spot on, I should probably just bookmark the handy guides that exist to forward on to new players if/when they ask. It's not that the material isn't there, and the GM/AGMs are literally there to help along the players who may not take to the process as quickly.

 

Sorry about your eardrums, I'll try to be more conscious of that in the future. I don't think I did the post-processing magic on this episode that I did on the previous one.

 

I saw some coverage about DeSmith disc golfing, seems like a cool dude. I'm not even upset about the CBJ hate, I'm just thankful that someone has any opinion of us whatsoever to validate our existence.

Yeah, you're putting in the work. But if your players just aren't into discord activity there isn't much you can do. Scouting that stuff ahead of time is nearly impossible when dealing with the newer members, like you are with the JST. The one tip I would give is to not draft yourself if you're also the GM/AGM (unless it's the VHL proper and you want the safety of having your own player). I noticed this for us in Bratislava this season, I'm always going to be active in the LR as the AGM. So by drafting my player in the 1st round we essentially gave up the chance at another active 1st round type member. In hindsight it's probably something I would have changed about how we did the E draft last season.

The slight issue is that the JST for GMing is still kind of focused on new GMs, most people who are into becoming a GM/AGM will have their first actual AGM gig by season 2. So having the ability for people to get in there in their actual first season is pretty nice.

You only need 6, right? But I personally do love the ones with more than 6 so you can pick the 6 you like the most to answer. But it's certainly not a must. As an AGM I also quite like the press conferences that sneak in scouting relevant questions. If you have a player who you don't know from discord at all and want to get an idea of what they are about, the presser is usually the only place to get an idea.

He was making waves for a hot second, but then ended up on the IR list with an upper body injury and is still out of the lineup. Looking forward to him getting some more ice time in the future, though!

Yeah, when he's on, his wrist shot is nasty. Really liked him on the point when Werenski was out as well. But he's pretty streaky, also grew up a stone's throw away from where I grew up. So will be cool to follow his career when I stop being burnt out on the NHL again.

- I tend to not read comments before listening to the podcast, but I think the folks above answered your Press Conference question. I'll answer it anyway. Asking six questions is the standard, but never be afraid to  spice things up however you see fit!

 

- I like the idea of a visual TPE gauge to motivate people to earn. If we use the thermometer idea, you can put bronze, silver, and gold thresholds on it, where bronze is Welfare + PF, and gold would be like 12 TPE or something like that.

 

- You're brainstorming things because you're an excellent person and member!

 

- Are you still active on the SHL at all? They're our frenemies.

Addressing all of these points because it took me like four days to realize there were new replies to this thread:

 

1) In my defense, it was 25 minutes of raw audio that I cut down for your listening pleasure. That's why it sounds like I'm not a total idiot (I hope)

 

2) Steal it. Secret admirer is just bog standard stuff for every locker room starting today, it's official.

 

3) First impressions seem to be that people appreciate variety in the press conference questions, so I'm going to take that spice advice (adspice, obviously) and try to branch out into more interesting topics for future PCs.

 

4) Yes. Which adult in the room do we have to convince to greenlight this project?

 

5) Aww, shucks. T'weren't nothin'.

 

6) Yes, still active over there. It's not that it's bad over there, necessarily, they just need to modernize.

 

7) I have so little to offer in terms of league knowledge that I have to use the backing audio and stuff to establish authority, it's classic misdirection.
