Jason Argos Junior Review

When Jason Argos came into the VHL, he was completely unprepared for what the league would through at him. Being from Anchorage, Alaska, he was not fully exposed to proper hockey development. His playing in junior was his first exposure to proper hockey development, so he was a little behind the curve, but he was willing to work as hard as he could to catch up with everyone else. After junior, he had plenty of VHLM offers from many different teams. He decided to go with Mexico City, a long ways away from his home, but he felt that this would be his best opportunity to become the best player he can be.

His first season was rough. He had not gotten used to the professional level as fast as he thought he would, which lead him to end the season with a statline of 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 72 games. He played in 4 playoff games, recording only one assist. He got very used to being on the 4th line. Despite this, he loved playing in Mexico City. The fans are the greatest and most passionate fans in the entire VHLM. They knew that despite his struggles, that he was a special player. He played with a lot of heart and effort, which made it easy for the fans of Mexico City to like him and identify with him.

After his first season, he was put into the VHLM dispersal draft. He was extremely worried about which team would select him. All of those worries quickly went away, as he was selected 3rd overall by none other than the Mexico City Kings. He was extremely excited to come back. He was also drafted by the Istanbul Red Wolves and the Moscow Menace. With all of the new talent coming in and the better players moving on, Jason knew that the next season was going to be a great one. He became the number one right wing on the team, being put on the first line and on the first power play. This season went much better than his first, with a final statline of 29 goals and 62 assists for 91 points in 72 games. He along with Matt Rooster and Tomas Sogaard made one of the best lines in the league.

Coming into the playoffs, they were set to play against the defending back to back champion Ottawa Lynx in the first round. Despite all of the odds stacked against them, the Kings swept the Lynx to move onto the second round. They were set to play against the Houston Bulls. The Kings unfortunately fell short in 7 games, leaving Jason with a final statline of 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 11 playoff games.

Despite his relatively short time in Mexico City, he will never forget the impact the team, his teammates, his trainers, the coaching staff, the management, and the Mexico City faithful had on him. Though he will be playing under a different crest in a different country, he will always be a King.
