Jayrad28 396
VHLM Prospect Matt Kozun recently declared for the Amateur draft. The Drummondville Quebec native has been a sensation this season for the Voltigeurs this season, making a tremendous jump from High School. He’s played 46 Games this season and recorded 58 Points, including 34 Goals. He has a strong offensive drive and smart instinct that make him lethal in the offensive zone. His back checking could use improvements but he’s showed this season that he’s a tremendous fast learner, Going from healthy scratch to Top line minutes in a matter of weeks. Biggest Strengths Skating He’s a very fast and fluent skating. He claimed once in an interview his coach made him do weeks of Figure skating to work on his angles, or he would be cut from the team. It’s easily one of his best skills now, and he’s probably one of the better young skaters declaring for the draft. Shooting He has an absolutely lethal shot. He got primary power play time in the late stretch of the season and would park in Ovechkin’s office and rip wristers, he scored 14 of his goals on the power play. Puck Handling He’s showed stick handling skills of a Veteran. He’s won a couple shootout games for his team this season with a little DoSiDo, and brought fans to their feet. He rarely looses the puck and can hold off defenders when making a rush Biggest Weaknesses Physicality Kozun is mainly an offensive player, Not a strong physical power forward by any means. He does have a tendency to get pushed off the puck by bigger defenders when he can’t out-skate it puck handle them, which isn’t much of an issue right now but could be in the big leagues. Defensive Coverages Like I stated above, Kozun is an offensive player, so he isn’t relied on much to play in the defensive zone, but as he grows Coaches will demand more of that, so he will have to learn. He has been caught pinching when trying to cover defenders and made a couple bad passes when I def pressure in his own zone. Kozun is declaring for the draft a little late, so there’s not many scouts that have a report on him, so he will probably slip late in the draft. His Agency has produced a couple decent VHL players in the past in Alex Pearson and Ryan Ryker, so he could potentially be a steal for a VHLM team this week when the draft is held. jacobcarson877 and Shindigs 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/118449-vhlm-prospect-report/ Share on other sites
