Preseason Begins!

After long grueling weeks of no VHL hockey, the newly added Preseason was something fans of all VHL Leagues could enjoy. This was responded with immediate positivity among the fans, players and teams alike. The league could rake in more cash with an increased number of games. While players get to test the waters to prepare for an upcoming new season. While teams and managers get to look into players better in these scrimmage games, allowing them to utilize the player in the best of situations.

In Moscow, the Preseason would begin with some amazing optimism from everyone. They’ve had most (if not every) player come back from last year to play in Season 83. These players have refined their skills and have been looking incredibly dangerous to opponent teams. Our very own Sergey Preobrazhensky was one of those players who excelled during the offseason and training camp. Coming into the Preseason, Sergey seemed much more confident on the ice, resulting in a much better performance out of the young center than we usually do. “I feel like I belong with this team, it was just meant to be and I look forward to every minute of it.” Sergey said with a giant grin on his face.

He and his Moscow crew would start off winning all of the first three games they played on the ice. Sergey contributed with 3 points of his own to start out the Preseason. And it was all smiles in the locker room to start off the games.

Across the pond, the Saskatoon Wild have also been able to play some games before the season started. Looking at Saskatoon’s roster, it was evident that they weren’t nearly as good as they once used to be. Other teams started to catch up to them and it showed. Saskatoon started their three games by losing all of them. Although this was the case, Saskatoon managed to battle and stay in the game against some of the top dogs in the league. Losing to both the Ottawa Lynx (4-5) and the Halifax 21st (2-3) in nail biting fashion. Not only that, but there were a few standout players in Saskatoon’s Preseason Opener.

Boston (@CanucksFan), who had been known as one of the best offensive players in the VHLM. And he showed in during the games, posting five points in just three games. He is a key contributor to the offensive lineup, and many look forward to seeing what more he can do in the next five games. But it wasn’t just Boston who turned heads. The unlikely hero was Nicklas Jansson (@MayorError). Who was a splendid body checker as well as being playmaking machine out on the ice. Although not known for his offensive capabilities, he certainly showed critics that he has some offensive firepower in him. Posting four points with three assists on the day. Not only that, but he led the team in hits as well with thirteen. Jansson sure played his heart out today. The Wild looks forward to seeing how greatly both of the guy's can contribute to the team.

The Preseason was an extremely successful addition to the VHL. I look forward to seeing how both the Moscow Menace and the Saskatoon Wild manage in the Regular Season. Maybe a playoff run is on the menu?
