xNJDevilsFanx 125
I found this quote that sums up the Stockholm Vikings season right now. It says "fight your foes in the field, nor be burnt in your house. Never fear facing challenges. Let yourself accept the challenge and indulge yourself in the exhilaration of glory. Or else, you will spend your life fearing, and one day a challenge will find and knock you out." This means facing your challenges head-on, rather than waiting for them to find you. We had those challenges. The expectations the rest of the media and our fanbase put on us were immense. We were expected to meet those expectations. Unfortunately, we haven't. But, this is a huge improvement from last year. A few defenders could help us if we want to beat Cologne and move into the playoffs. It's a long way to go, but we move with caution and preparation. The future is tomorrow. As for the Stockholm Vikings, we are responsible for our future. Since we are talking about the VHLE, let's stay on the topic, shall we? The Vasteras Iron Eagles have retaken the #1 spot with a record of (29-6-10). The former #1 seed, the Bratislava Watchmen is in 2nd with a record of (25-10-3). The Cologne Express and the Geneva Rush are still the last playoff spots heading towards the end of the season. The Istanbul Red Wolves and the Stockholm Vikings still are fighting to get into those last playoff spots. The last two teams (Oslo Storm) & the (Rome Gladiators) seem to be eliminated from the playoffs this season. This means that we will have new champions at the end of the playoffs. The surge of the Riga Reign continues to prosper in the league. The General Manager (hedgehog 337) has done a fantastic job of re-establishing relevance to this team. Players like Anze Miklavz, Alex Johnston, Battre Sandstrom, Brendan Talker, and Tobias Reinhart have brought quality veteran experience to this team. It seems that the Reign is moving towards a series of contention. They acquired Brendan Telker from the Malmo Nighthawks for Obi Adesanya, Mason Jones, Cody Kapanen, and an S84 RIG third-round pick. The Seattle Bears and the Riga Reign lead their respective conferences and are the #1 and #2 seeds in the league. The Moscow Menace is third, London United is fourth, Toronto Legion is fifth, Prague Phantoms is sixth, Warsaw Predators is seventh and the Chicago Phoenix finishes the playoff bracket as the eighth seed. The Helsinki Titans and the D.C. Dragons are close to that eight seed though. As for the rest of the teams, they might be looking forward to the draft lottery this year as their chance of making the players dwindles by the day. Our last pit-stop ends in the little leagues. The San Diego Marlins still maintain the #1 seed with a record of (31-4-3). Right behind them remains the Las Vegas Aces as the #2 seed with a record of (29-7-2). Halifax 21st, Ottawa Lynx, and the Miami Marauders are the remaining teams over .500. The Mississauga Hounds, Philadelphia Reapers, Houston Bulls, Saskatoon Wild, and the Mexico City Kings are all under .500. This means that we will also have a new champion in the VHLM after this year.Green - VHLM. Red - Riga Reign. Blue - VHL.Orange - VHLE. Purple - Stockholm Vikings & P.J. These expectation changed from the off season to the start of the season as majority for the team secured their rosters for the season with some players expected to play in the VHL staying in the VHLE for another chance a glory..... But we also have been able to the opportunities in close games often enough and we seem to have a goal scoring issue on the team at the moment as well. The question right now is it worth pushing for a play-off spot or staying put with the eyes firmly on the future? Most of the roster could return next season with the biggest question being around making room for the prospects as you have Rustyov Dusterov, Zack Martinez and maybe Ratty Trepovsky all joining the roster next season but no actual room if you stay with the current roster. Not mentioning the two tender prospects that could be joining the team next season as well. It should be an interesting trade deadline in Stockholm or a more interesting off-season. xNJDevilsFanx 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/120791-a-viking-saga-pj-daniels/#findComment-926043 Share on other sites
