In a draft which featured 21 players with over 30 recreate TPE or more and with ten of those creating with over 40 recreate TPE, the members entering the VHL with their first players were always going to have a difficult time standing out in comparison to their more veteran sim league counterparts. Without any dedicated Youtube or Reddit drives for this years class, most of our recruitment focused on attracting members from other leagues and, while there may not be quite as many talented first-gens as when we do our dedicated drives, there are still a number of good first time players that look like they could impress with their first VHL players.

Dogwood Maple

Despite originally creating an account in July of last year, Dogwood Maple created a VHL player for this upcoming class in February, a week or two after creating players in both the SBA and the EFL. Creating at the optimal point of creation (the trade deadline), Maple has gone on to do pretty much everything available to them. They are one of six players to have hit the TPE cap in every single week of their current players’ career and stand in fifth place in uncapped TPE which, while slightly boosted by a player store purchase outside of the First-Gen bonuses, is still very impressive given they will have missed out on VHFL and Award Prediction TPE last year. Currently ranking tenth in TPE in this draft class, it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear Maple’s name called earlier than that come draft day.

Molly The Cat

Joining after being recruited by family member and current Calgary Wranglers prospect Landon Wolanin, Molly The Cat has shown a similar work ethic to that of Dogwood Maple, however due to their late declaration for the draft (they joined five weeks ago whereas those who joined the trade deadline have had eleven weeks to improve their player), they currently find themselves in 20th place in TPE in the draft class, which isn’t close to a fair reflection of the work they’ve put in to date. Like Maple, Molly The Cat has earned 12 capped TPE every week since joining the league and currently ranks eighteenth in total uncapped TPE earned which, if you bear in mind how many uncapped TPE opportunities they weren’t able to attain given their creation date, is very impressive indeed. It might be difficult for Molly The Cat to break into the top 16 prior to the draft as there are a lot of good earners ahead of them, but should they consider their incredible earning rate, they’ll definitely be in consideration for a first round selection.

Otis Boudreaux

Joining in the same week as Molly The Cat, the Irish Otis Boudreaux has similarly displayed qualities that will see them become noticed by general mangers across the three VHL leagues. Over their five weeks in the league, Otis Boudreaux has earned eight capped TPE or more in four of those five weeks, hitting their personal best of a nice ten TPE a week ago. They’ve also picked up a solid 25 uncapped TPE since joining the league, aided by their five TPE bonus from joining the league from the GOHLS. They’ve also got another recruit to join the league in Odette Boudreaux and, should they continue to progress, they will also help boost Otis’s uncapped TPE count. I can see Boudreaux being in consideration for any team who holds an early to mid second rounder in the upcoming VHL Draft.
