It's Theme Week Time!

So who do I want to praise? I mean there are a lot of people to choose from, really. A lot of people do a lot of things in this league to make it what it is. But I probably have to pick the person who without a doubt changed my VHL experience the most, @MubbleFubbles.

 

When I joined the league, I had just watched a RTH ad for it (which didn't mention a damn thing about TPE, I may add). So I didn't know what to expect, and originally came across more or less serious graphics and when looking into career tasks was mostly seeing needlessly serious ones about how your player scored 500 points in ~40 games in the KHL as a 12 year old. You know, standard Junior Review stuff. But then I came across two things, first there was a Prospect Scouting Report about a certain Board Game On Skates that made me see the sillier more fun side of the league, as I was approaching the league in a WAY too serious approach until that point. Then right after as I was doing my first review I came across, I think it was the dlamb graphic, of The Board Game Clue On Skates. Which as it turns out would change just about everything about my plans for my player's persona.

 

So at first I just kinda ran out of stuff to put in the "trivia" section about my player in the Prospect Scouting Report I was making/writing. I just decided to reference BGCS there again, partially just cause I found the idea of a board game playing hockey hilarious. But also to test the waters and see how Mubbles felt about someone else interacting with his "brand". And the responses from him were positive, so I just decided that it would be fun to make an endorsement ad for the hair gel Clue Glue™ which later morphed into a Clue Glue™ product for just about every situation. What made me come up with that idea? Well in Sweden Henrik Lundqvist does these ads for anti-dandruff shampoo that are purposefully phoned in and over the top, to make fun of athlete endorsements. So i figured I'd kinda do a mix of that and just straight up "9 of 10 Doctors smoke Camel cigarettes" type ads from back in the days. So what ended up coming from that was the whole #TeamClue thing, that really shaped who I am in the league.

 

Fast forward most of 3 seasons and we've got a Team Clue JST team, have had a (super successful *cough*) TeamClue All-Star Team, have sponsored the All-Star games for 2 years etc. None of that would have happened without Mubbles, and I have absolutely no idea what my VHL experience would have been like. Because all that silly #TeamClue stuff certainly helped me get noticed and get all the opportunities that I have had so far. Then add in all the stuff Mubbles does with scouting, podcasting and his chart races. Along with just being a great person to chat with and he's just one of the real gems in this community.

 

There are several others I could have written this about, who in one way or another touched my VHL experience, either on a personal level. By making real connections, or who have always been there to answer questions about anything and everything league related. But as much as those people, and you know who you are, have been huge for me and my VHL experience. I don't think anyone transformed it as completely as Mubbles did with his insane choice of player brand. So that's why I just had to rep #TeamClue this theme week.

Goes without saying that I’ll be mentioning you quite a bit in my theme week podcast coming up (hopefully recording tomorrow), but you’ve been a superb member for the league and I’ve loved everything that you’ve done with the Team Clue brand and look forward to more of your special brand of craziness in the future!

Yeah AJ has been another one of the MVP members in my VHL journey so far. That invite meant a lot to me and is no small part in why I have Vegas now.

Pretty crazy to think about this actually. If I never hired @MubbleFubbles I probably wouldn't have seen your Clue Glue work, and might not have really gotten to know you.

Normally I'd call it butterfly effect, but let's call it the Clue Glue™ effect just this once.
