It's alright, the Nucks are going to beat the Oilers and everything will be fine again in Canuck Land.

Hopefully that is the case. The Canucks looked pretty good against the Coyotes but Dubnyk seemed to have their number every shot. Arizona is horrible team to play against with their boring hockey as well.

Hall will still be out so I hope the Canucks can take it to them with him absent. We still have our injuries as well though.

So Carolina beat Dallas tonight...that was something. It seems the McDavid sweepstakes is not in anyones heads right now, which is good for league competition.

I don't think anyone is going to tank on purpose. Management might feel like it with all of their poor starts but the players are playing like they want to win.

Buffalo has been getting some wins, as well as Carolina and Florida.

You obviously don't know the Edmonton way then, tank to get offensive players and lose games 6-5 down the road!

There plan is simple year after year, tank for the first ¾ of the season, at the deadline go acquire guys for a make believe playoff run and then make the the fans believe they have a shot, only to be left out of the playoffs and win the lottery to gain another PP addition.

Actually, I had reason to believe Markstrom would improve. Not by this much, but anyhow. His knock has always been that he's a raw talent, tons of athleticism. But his technical play is off the charts bad sometimes. Rollie Melanson's bread and butter is helping big goalies economize their movement and reduce the amount of holes they leave in their game. He's perfect for Markstrom.

I have zero faith in Markstrom.  Was really high on him for a while, but after a couple seasons of watching him closer I couldn't see an NHL goaltender there.  Who knows, maybe he'll surprise, but he sure wasn't the answer for Edmonton.  They needed to pull the trigger on a guy like Bishop, who they were in on.

But in all seriousness, if you can think of a way the Oilers franchise could screw up, they have done.  Poor drafting, horrid management, braindead head coach, a goalie coach that seemingly knows how to destroy goaltenders, an owner who seems completely oblivious.  The list goes on and on.

No team in the NHL actively tanks. If you want to see how to tank properly, look at the 76ers last season. Actively traded away every single veteran and after the deadline they filled their roster with literally different guys each week.

Team like the Oilers, Panthers, etc... have all had some combination of problems with management, lacking the ability to attract quality free agents, or lack of strong ownership. Just because a team is bad does not mean they're tanking.

Because the Oilers sell out every night and he's making tons of money.  He'll make even more once the new arena opens up.  Just taking a page out of the Ballard playbook.  Why would he change anything when the status quo is making him a killing and he doesn't have to do a single thing about it!?

The Panthers may not have a lot of fans, but they are competing hard every night, have a fantastic goaltender, and are getting some results.
