Dabnad 178
Hello everyone! I’m back. Now this week we’re celebrating 15 years of this league. Mind you that this league is the same age as me which makes me feel really young and basically everyone else here who’s been from the start are pretty old. So rather than actually talking to some old people I’ll take the easier route and just find some records to talk about. Since my absolute favourite category in the league is shots blocked, I will be talking about the shots blocked record across the league, trust me this is going to be good. Now this record is a very interesting one. Unlike many records around the league, this record has been set just 2-3 seasons ago by none other than Creed @assassin6898. This record is an enormous 460 shots blocked in a season. For reference, the next placed person has 325 shots blocked and this was all the way back in S37. To give you a scale for this season, in first place is none other than myself (at time of writing JUL 23rd, 3:46 EST). In second place is @DeeGoat(Same amount, more games), and in third place is @hockeyis66(3 less blocked shots, 1 less game). If I go in the same pace for the rest of the season, I would have 232 shots blocked, this is HALF of what Creed had. This record is looking unbreakable at the moment, we have to wait for a build which can have a historic run and break this record. Now you may be wondering, well this record was so recent there has to be a way to beat this, it doesn’t seem that hard does it. Well you’re really wrong and I’ll tell you why. First of all, the way TPE is earned has been changed drastically from when this record happened. One of the best ways to do this record is to cut down on every single stat except checking, physical and defence which is nearly impossible in the modern game. This stat is also hard to break because, you have to be on a pretty bad/rebuilding team since more shots means more possible shots which you can block. Another requirement is that you’re a defensemen because you’re the first one to get in your zone, and because of how the simulation works. Along with all of this, you need to be good enough on your team to be getting first pairing minutes. Doing this all together is super hard as depending on when you get into the league, you have a high chance of not going to a bad team along with many different factors. If you do ALL of this then you’ll need one last thing which is a lot of luck. Creed had many down seasons before getting this record and there is a chance that you’ll need a lot of luck for this like what Creed had. After all that, I wish you are successful and I wish you good luck. Now that we have discussed how to do this, and also why this is basically impossible, we should see when you should try this. This must be between your rookie and prime years that way regression doesn’t hurt you. Last thing you have to make sure is to be in the better division as getting blocks are easier when you’re in a better division and you’re the worst. I think doing all this is a good shot at getting you that record. Other than this, I’d like to see you get this record and this is Dabnad Shaw, signing off once again. 600 words (coincidence I promise) Week ending Jul 24 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/124292-15-years-the-first-of-many/ Share on other sites
