Another look at the top 1st gens of the S85 Draft Class

I kinda of accidentally slipped and fell mid MS at some point earlier this season and put a list of the top current 1st gens of the draft class. But quite a lot has happened since, and quite a lot of it sadly involves people falling off. So that list does need an update.

 

1. Jesse Teno - G - @aimkin 206 TPE

 

Consistent max earner every week, donated. But due to the glut of doubles/triple weeks hasn't actually had time to claim the dono doubles yet. Has already showed interest in league jobs and is just a great person to talk to in DMs. Currently sitting 10th in TPE in the draft class, despite being a relatively late joining player. Easily my pick for the 1st first gen to go off the draft board this off-season in the VHL. The only thing that could get in their way is how relatively few starter positions are available among the teams picking at the top of the draft.

 

2. Alfred Champagne - RW - @Anthique 173 TPE

 

Joined before aimkin, but is lower on TPE. When Anthique is on, he's a max earner. But consistency has been his issue so far. This week, unless he gets some stuff in late, looks like he won't pick up a single TPE. And last week was also lacking compared to what we have seen from him in the past. I'm hoping he gets back into it and shows that he can put up a fight for that 1st spot, by being the best 1st gen option for a team that needs a forward. But the lack of consistency in earning may scare off a lot of GMs.

 

3. Reid Johnson - D - @TopTiddee2173 TPE*

 

At the time of writing he's actually not in 3rd and not on 173 TPE. But he does have a MS that's posted, but not claimed as well as a bday post that will be claimed as soon as that MS is. Which will get him there this week. He's a great LR guy in Vegas with a lot of activity and has shown a lot of willingness to learn and grow as a player. What's held his TPE back slightly was a missed Welfare before he got comfortable enough to start writing MS, as well as some missed trivia questions. But overall, expect him to put in 10-12 capped TPE just about every week, and jump on uncapped opportunities. If you are looking for a 1st gen Dman to build around, he is your player of choice.

 

4. Larry Abass Jr - LW/C - @RileyL 163 TPE

 

Riley's mostly been doing Welfare+, but with the big uncapped opportunities of the last 2 weeks has started making graphics to push into higher TPE a week earnings. Still not quite max earning, but he's been nothing but consistent week in and week out with his earning. Very easy to get a hold of in DMs and willing to jump on uncapped opportunities. In his short time in the league he's been doing very good in Fantazy Zone, picking up solid payouts just about every week. So if the inconsistency, but high ceiling of your Anthique pick is too much to stomach. The amazing consistency of Riley may be what pushes him to the highest ranked 1st gen forward in the draft.

 

5. Bill Nye The Puck Stopping Guy - G - @Big Newff 156 TPE

 

Now this guy usually gets all his TPE tasks in so late in the week that it's already next week in my TZ. So if he does that this week too, he'll shoot right up the list and will be on par with aimkin for consistency (though not quite in earn rate). But since I don't know that at the time of writing this, I'll have to just go off what I know. So if he goes from max earning to missing a week entirely, that is scary. And usually a very, very bad sign of things to come. But if not, I think Big Newff is easily the #2 prospect among 1st gens in this draft. Now this is technically his 3rd player, and both his other players didn't last long enough to even remove his eligibility for 1st gen claims. So that's a bit scary from a GM perspective. But based on my insider sources, that was due to a lack of understanding of how claiming worked here. Coming in as an affiliate member. So with that sorted, maybe the sky isn't even the limit and Bill Nye will take us all the way to space?

 

Honorable Mentions: in 6th we have @Carpenter74 and in 7th we have @Jay_F both were max earning hard, with Carpenter even donating. Then Carpenter just disappeared off the forums on the 15th. I've seen him post in Mexico's LR since. But no forum access, so I'm not sure what to make of that. He was running away with 1st before that happened. But now it's looking pretty bad. I do hope he comes back though, and keeps up the graphics. For Jay_F I sadly can't really tell you much about the user, other than that he went from max earning in Week ending 17th, to only posting a couple minor tasks in Week ending 24th and then hasn't been on the forums since the 24th. Which looks like a standard case of burnout, but I hope I'm wrong and that he will be back.

Yeah I'm not proud of myself, I've been slaking off in the last weeks, but I will bounce back, I'm in holidays for the next 2 weeks.
