Hello there. I'm hedge. Honestly, at this point I was about to close this tab and claim a welfare instead because I'm tired of doing media. Or more like, I'm tired in general. I have to say thanks to a certain member who inadvertently came up with an idea for this article. On last Saturday @nurx (who is famillar with Riga) posted an answer to a question in the NY press conference about the Riga and Davos series. The question was about whether members were surprised Davos made it through. Instead of answering directly to this answer he decided to come from a bit different perspective:

Riga has no emotions at this point.

There was a second part of that answer, but the curse moment wasn't really interesting to me. This part, however is intriguing. He almost spent 4 seasons with Riga (including his time in VHLE) so he has to know something, right? Well....

.....I can't say for other members so I only can answer this how I felt. After game 5 I felt almost nothing. Sure, there was some sort of disappointment that our season wasn't prolonged. Other than that I expressed my opinion on how Riga is still better than Davos and decided to move on. For some(???) reason I wasn't feeling anything during these series. It's just like was one big ehhh for me. We win, cool. We lose, bleh who cares. So as for the question whether Nurx was right about Riga having no emotions - I'm not sure because we need to ask other team members for that. But when it comes to the head honcho, I have to admit that his remark wasn't far from truth.

Which brings us to the next question. What's next? You may paid the attention to three question marks after the word ''some''. The thing is I know exactly the reason why there was not much involement from my side. And if you read some of my random blabs you know it too. Weather, events, work, you know the drill. Obviosly I'm just not having the same energy for this as I had with lesser everything IRL. But even with that, this wasn't the only reason why this happened. The reason is even more simple - I could see it shitloads of country miles away that something like that could happen. I knew that Riga was totally screwed this season by a certain sim engine. Countless of stupid nonesense losses against bottom feeders which never gave a chance to fight for a better position in regular season standings. And I do think Riga deserved a higher position. This series was just a cherry on the top, but by that moment I already lost an interest on this. I just had very little faith that there wouldn't be some wack shit happening around and this series proved me right.

I think this is actually the rare moment when I just didn't care anymore. Even in these tragic days of late 70's Riga I still was constantly moaning about the STHS. Which does mean that I did care. Only in S81 I was pretty much cruising around waiting for a better moment to buy and go harder. This one, however...I don't know what to say. Personally, this series probaly will go down as one of the least interesting in my GM career so far. It was whole lotta shrug moment.

Anyways, about the question at the beginning of my last paragraph. Does that mean....

That's it and I'm out.

I hate to say it but honestly it's hard to get excited about a series when you always seem to fizzle out. Do I have more emotions for New York? I don't really know. It is hard to say. I do know however that the excitement I felt for Rigas future is how I feel for New York. After last season it felt like Riga wasn't really on the board for a championship. My player has disappointed me and Riga was disappointing. I am excited for the future, but when it seems the future for Riga looks as tough as it looks right now, I think it is hard to have emotions when the team loses. Do I think it is time for Riga to sell for their future? I'm not sure about that. Do I think they are at a pivotal moment in the franchises future? Yes. It almost felt like the rebuild that led to Riga being where they are right now felt almost rushed. That the future looked good, but there wasn't enough to go over the hump. Is it possible that if it weren't for meta Riga could of won in S82? I mean maybe, but I think the next rebuild for Riga needs to be a more planned and heavily executed action.
