When last we reported from our intrepid heroes, Vasteras was leading in the final series 2-1 by wins. Let's see how they fared in the time elapsed since then.

4-0

The first match in this review brought the tie, as the Red Wolves defeated the Iron Eagles 4-0, despite a 40-47 shots deficit. Istanbul scored two goals in the first period on even strength. They barely managed to shut the door in the second frame when Vasteras outshot them 8-18. In the final period, the Turks doubled the lead with two more goals with parity in numbers. The three stars were awarded to Murdock (47 saves), 2st (2g/1a) and Busser (1g/1a). Obviously, it was Murdock's flawless performance in net who kept the Wolves in the game and Jute (.900) out of the competition in the goalie race. Vasteras sinned in the power play with zero goals in six attempts, but was spotless on the penalty kill.

Marcel left the rink with 0g, 0a, -2, 3 hits and 1sb.

3-2

In the second match up, Vasteras reinstated the one game lead in a 3-2 victory. Marcel with one of his rare goals opened the score (his first in the VHLE post season ever). The Swiss defender intercepted a pass from Crumb and sent Maple on a journey. The forward shoots, but his attempt is blocked by Crumb who wanted to redeem himself for giving away the disc so easily. However, Janser inherits the orphaned puck and slaps it bar down for the 1-0 lead. Alas, the lead is short lived, as Istanbul times the game for the second period. After the break Cat and Mathias with his premier on the power play sealed the deal for the Wolves. Istanbul's goal in the third was only a consolation price and could not be repeated to equalize the score. Cat (1g/1a), Jute (38 saves) and Bond (1g/0a) were named the stars of the night. The German netminder between Vasteras' pipes had the upperhand (.950) in the duel against Murdock (.885). Vasteras' power play was okay (1/4) and the box play immaculate (4/4).

Marcel was recorded with 1g, 0a, +0, 2 PIM (Hooking, no effect on the score) and 4sb.

The stats for Marcel for this playoff run are as follows:

9gp, 1g, 4a, 5pts, +3, 4 PIM, 10 hits, 25sb

Kindly tune in for the next game.
