Ah yes, normally I have a tonne of stuff I feel like writing about. But not so much today. So that usually means just randomly writing about Vegas for about 500 words. Might as well.

 

Vegas stuff, and things

The back to back is complete. And with it comes the retirement and/or graduation of the last players my predecessors in Vegas drafted, except Juan Ceson. Juan Ceson will always play Juan more Ceson, though he is actually a FA this upcoming off-season, though rumor has it that if he stayed one more season he would set the franchise record for most games played in Vegas as well as being guaranteed the captaincy (without a vote this time) since really he's earned that after being our captain for both the cups.

 

Records, and stuff

We missed out on some things in Vegas record wise. But we also set a fair few. There's been this little quest I've had for both season in Vegas, which is to turn the entire +/- leaderboards into nothing but Vegas. We capped out at 9 of 10 in S83. Then 9 of 10 against in the S84 regular season. But after the final game of the playoffs this season it finally happened. We got there!

 

So that's sorted and no longer something to aim for. We also had Al Land @Big Dee set a whole bunch of hybrid era records. First player over 100 points, first to 40 goals, first to 50 goals and first to 60 goals. And probably a bunch of others I can't really think of right now. Sadly @TownBizness who looked like he would be the 3rd player to hit 100 points in the hybrid era ended the season with a scoring drought seeing him finish on 99 points. Very unlucky.

 

The other franchise record we were up against really didn't end well. Was hoping we'd challenge for the 124 point record. And we could have gotten there, but a 3 game losing streak (our only losing streak of the season if I'm not mistaken) in the final 3 games put an end to that, for a 121 point season. Which is still one of the ~top 10 regular season records in the portal era. So not bad at all, but also not a record.

 

The future, and things

This puts us in a spot where we have one hell of a record to try and go for next season, the threepeat. Unless I'm actually blind, I can't see a single threepeat in VHLM history. Bratislava has more back to backs than I care to count, and Ottawa has a few as well. But if we managed to get the cup next season as well, then we might actually make history. So could we? Maybe, we are pretty well setup to compete. Unless the cutoff gets pushed one more week due to the playoff running long, then we lose our star player Larry Abass Jr @RileyL to capping out. So I have more than one reason to want Warsaw to win the cup tonight. We also maintain both @RobBro34and @theBombster who will be amazing wingers heading into this season, and with rumors of Juan Ceson returning as the captain. That's a potentially very solid core to build around, as well as a solid pick pool in a deep draft. So yes, it's possible. Though as always, very unlikely. Simon has favored us for two season, I wouldn't think it will last for a third. And even if it doesn't the goal is more to show that you don't have to all in at the cost of your future to succeed. Just make sustainable decisions and try and be a good team every season. That's what I'm going with at least, and it's worked so far.
