The off-season is here and activities are starting to get underway. With all of that in progress, Travis Boychuk of the Calgary Wranglers is working hard to get better for the next season. In S39, the Wranglers were taken out in the 1st Round of the playoffs and hope to push further in their next attempt. This is easier said than done, but with many new faces coming through the fold the team is seemingly ready for more.

With some new faces and more seasoning for the main squad, one would have to believe that this team is much stronger than last season. Star center Boychuk has 2 seasons of VHL action behind him, which is obviously very beneficial. He has been working on his strength to even out his game behind the puck. It is no longer a question of if Travis will perform the same as he has, but instead if the team can rally together and use their depth to their advantage.

One question remains, and that is on the shoulders of goalie Martin Brookside. He has not been what everyone has expected of a starter in Calgary. This is something he has become very aware of and has been working on rounding out his game as well. With a stronger defensive core heading into Season 40, things should get easier for Brookside. In seasons past, he has been mediocre to say the least. Consistency is a big question mark for this goalie and if he can regain form then the Wranglers are destined for greatness.
