Tui Sova just keeps getting better and better, putting up a career high 106 points last season with the DC Dragons. Hari Singh Nalwa brings an excellent two way game, putting up multiple point-per-game seasons while piling on the blocked shots. Hammar Voss brings a massive 6'8" frame and outstanding offensive instincts. And what, exactly, does Ryuji Sakamoto contribute? Penalty minutes, mostly, along with some physical play and shot blocking prowess. These four make up the defensive corps for Team World in the upcoming World Cup tournament. Some may question the wisdom of having half of the defense made up of VHL rookies, but General Manager Gustav is no stranger to success as a rookie. Drafted 1st overall in the VHL Draft, Gustav's netminder, the 5'6" Art Vandelay, put up very impressive individual numbers with a 0.927 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against average for The Los Angeles Stars last season. Perhaps that performance was enough to give the Manager faith in what a pair of hungry rookies can do, especially when sheltered by a pair of dominant blueliners in Sova and Nalwa.
