Greg_Di 1,028
Henry Eagles has been in Vancouver for less then a week but he is already starting to settle in. He has taken up residency in a house his grandfather, Greg Eagles, still owned from his time in Vancouver. It has been an easy move for Henry and he has started to get a feel for the city. After setting up in the house he took a stroll to downtown Vancouver where he was recognized by many Wolves fan. He stopped to take pictures with fans and sign autographs. " The fans have been very welcoming and it's a great city to be in. There is lots to do and lots going on. You can tell the people here are huge hockey fans and it will take some time getting used to people recognizing you" Henry said " The fans are hyped for the team this year and we want to make sure we produce for them, they are the reason we come to the rink every day" The first overall pick will have loads of pressure on him in his first season. The Teams, Fans and his own expectations have been set pretty high with the media saying he needs to compete for the rookie of the year race or he will be considered a bust. "I take some of those media stories with a grain of salt, while it would be nice to win the rookie of the year, my main goal is to help this team win a cup " Henry continued "That is everyone's goal in the locker room. We have another great rookie in Dogwood and if anything he should be the favorite to win it all, I will be doing what I can to only help the team win. Individual awards don't mean much to me at this point in time" This was an interesting statement from Henry and many are wondering if he is trying to deflect the pressure and lofty goals expected of him or if he actually is being genuine and will be only interested in helping the Wolves win the cup. With the first game scheduled for tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how Henry starts his VHL career. Will he score his first goal or get his first point? Or will he buckle under the pressure and have a non-memorable first game? Many are predicating that he will come out of the game flying. The rumour is he will be playing on a line with fellow rookie Dogwood and newly acquired superstar Nico Pearce. If the rumours are true, having Nico playing with these 2 rookies can really have a boost in their point production. " I don't know where the media gets these rumours from, no lines have been announced yet for tomorrows game and I will be happy to play on any pairing" Henry stated "Last season in the VHLE I mostly played bottom line minutes with no issue, in the VHL in my first year I also expect limited minutes while I get up to speed with the VHL. I will be happy wherever I play and will contribute the best that I can" Tune in to tomorrows game to see the debut of Henry and to see how he will start the season. Gaikoku-hito 2,135
No Pressure placed on Eagles from the team since we have isolated the rookies this season. While the fans and the team expectations are high; any improvement over last season and the play-offs are the real goal this season. If Eagles plays his role then everything should be fine. Even if he score no points but breaks a few noses!! LOL! Okay, We expect a few points and not a goon. What that looks like is up to Eagles to decide and we will be happy if the team reaches our team goals. Play-off being the first one!!
