Kowalski Turning Heads At Camp

OSLO - When defenseman Jack Kowalski declared for the draft, it seemed as if few teams took notice. Perhaps it was due to how late he was made eligible for the draft, perhaps it was due to his background as a football player. Or maybe the VHLM didn't want a goon on their team. Eventually, however, the Oslo Storm selected Kowalski with the second pick in the second round, adding him to a dangerous defender's platoon with established starters Lloyd Light and Vladamir Komarov. The Storm were in for an even bigger surprise when Kowalski showed up to camp in even better condition than advertised.

"He's looking like a steal for sure," said Oslo's General Manager, Don Draper. "Scouting reports listed him as having issues skating and needing refinement in several areas defensively, but he has absolutely blown us all away so far. He's skating very well for a minor leaguer and on pretty much any other team he could be a top line defenseman."

For Kowalski, however, the season can't get here soon enough. His hard work paid off in reaching the VHLM, but now he must see if he is truly talented enough to reach the VHL.
