Oskars Harumpf celebrates one of his 2 goals in a recent game.

Well it took a few games to shake the rust off and a correction in his attributes, but Bratislava center Oskars Harumpf has now caught fire. He’s found amazing chemistry with new wingman Sachimo Zoidberg and the two have been tearing up the league over the last few games. Harumpf has played his favorite role as set up man and now has 11 points through 9 games, 6 of those coming in the last 2 games alone. 3 goals 8 assists on the season now for Oskars after a 4 point performance in game 40. The amazing performance marked a career high in points and hits. Somehow the diminutive Danish bowling ball had 7 hits in the game! He’s only 5’5” as we all know but he’s 250 pounds so obviously he knows how to throw his weight around. Harumpf’s 7 hits are a remarkable stat for any player, but the shortest player in the league doing this is quite an amazing accomplishment, especially when you consider he has zero practice hours dedicated to checking or strength. I guess Harumpf is just a natural born hitter. We don’t expect to see him rack up 7 hits a game going forward, but he definitely brings an edge to his game.

Harumpf’s points through 9 games are a reflection of the work he’s done in the off-season. He’s worked on speed, puck handling, passing, defense and scoring.  His game has reached a new level and he’s looking like one of the better Centers in the VHLM. He’s not going to blow you away with his shot total or goal scoring, but he’s an excellent playmaker and very responsible defensively as well as being solid on draws. He brings an all around game and is exactly the kind of player GM’s love to have on their team and players love playing with. Zoidberg especially has been enjoying being on a line with  Harumpf as he’s been racking up the goals and shot totals. It’s expected this dynamic duo should only continue to improve as the season progresses. By the time playoffs roll around, they should be on a whole different level than they are now. It’s scary to think about. Now of course Bratislava has to make the playoffs first, but all signs point to them being a playoff team. They have incredibly strong defense and just picked up a solid new goaltender. Things are looking good for the Watchmen.

Harumpf has settled into his role on his new team and is looking very comfortable. After his recent hot streak, he’s finally found the game he hoped to when he joined the league as a waiver claim midway through last season. After a successful playoff performance for Saskatoon, many speculated he would break out this season on a new team. That’s exactly what is happening and the diminutive Danish playmaker has finally arrived. All signs point to Harumpf becoming a household name by the end of the season and things are looking great for him as a future center for Helsinki.
