In what was a fluke incident, Vancouver's Dogwood Maple was injured while eating a sweet potato pie this Thanksgiving.  Maple had a slice of pie on his plate and was walking to the kitchen counter to get a cup of coffee when he slipped and fell directly on his back.  When asked why he didn't brace his impact with his arms, Maple's answer was simple.

"It was the last piece of pie and I didn't want to spill it.  I figured it would be worth it," Maple answered.

Team doctors did not share his same view of the incident and diagnosed him with a deep contusion to his lower back and hip and consider him day to day.  He will attempt to play in tomorrow's game, but it will all come down to pain tolerance.

"Do I regret it?  Absolutely not.  Sweet potato pie isn't something you take for granted, especially when its homemade.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  This isn't something that came in a box or that we just bought from Publix.  A lot of effort went into it and I'd sacrifice my body again for that delicious dessert with no hesitation," Maple said defiantly.
