Toronto is set to make a big splash in this draft with 2 top 3 picks, and while there is 2 franchise centers available and only 1 defensemen of that caliber, we believe that Toronto will make the choice of centers and take Mac Atlas. Last season Atlas tore up the VHLM finishing 3rd in points with 128. Recently, Atlas made an announcement that they would be playing in the VHLE this season and while it is currently unknown if they'll be able to, it would play perfectly into Toronto's rebuild. When they do come up we expect them to make a huge splash among the rookie pool.

With Toronto taking Atlas at one, Riga will get their player at 2 as they already have a elite prospect forward core, built around The Frenchman. Drafting Skor McFleury would truly set Riga up to be a team to watch in the near future. This past season McFleury set his eyes on the VHLE and he did not disapoint with the 2nd most point by a defensemen and solid physical stats to the point where we could see McFleury take home the VHLE top defensemen award. McFleury would step in as Riga's #4 defensemen this season.

After grabbing Atlas earlier in the draft, and with how clear cut the top 3 prospects are in the draft Toronto will potentially make the logical pick in Randy Bobandy and set up a deadly 1-2 combo down the middle for the foreseeable future. After a underwhelming season in the VHLE, Bobandy truly broke out in the playoffs and became a driving force behind Oslo's championship run.Taking the next top player available Randy Bobandy, who pushed themself by playing up in the VHLE with the Oslo Storm, will give them lots of room to play around and start to shine as a player that could play a key role around the team's peak.

Seattle really made a splash at the last draft, this time arond they have been trading up agressively for a reason. Kronchy Kardashian is a promissing elite defensemen. While their production is just below a point per game, Kardashian would be a great addition to just about any team and would really round our Seattle's D-core for the foreseeable future.

Jimi Jaks not set to instantly play up in the VHL could be taken by the Wolves, play a season in the VHLE, and then make the move to join the team. Jimi had an outstanding season in the VHLM for Halifax this past season with 129 points. Once some New York contracts are set to expire Jimi would take up the role as a star player for the Wolves and try to contribute into making this team great again. Jaks is also potentially the only player who could break into the top 3 of the draft, if Vancouver Drafts them it has the potential to be a massive steal.

The 2nd of the 3 McFleurys in the draft, Oreo had a great season for San Diego and led the team in playoff scoring. Oreo McFleury projects as a future top line winger, which is just what Malmo needs to play alongside Igor Molotov. We can expect to see Oreo McFleury make their VHL debut in S88, and with their arrival, we should see the start of a new era in Malmo.

After acquiring 7th and 8th overall from Seattle, Helsinki has Yaroslav Trunov fall directly into their laps, who is an excellent prospect to jump-start the Titans' offense. Trunov's game is 100% focused on one thing, and one thing only: getting the puck into the back of the net. He showed great skill and creativity offensively with the Saskatoon Wild in the VHLM, scoring 45 goals and tallying 55 assists last season. Trunov will need to develop into a better skater and be more responsible defensively for that kind of offensive prowess to continue at higher levels, but with his top-notch work ethic, there is no doubt that this kid will be ready to tear up the VHL with the likes of Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes soon!

After striking gold with Trunov, Helsinki adds to their draft day plunder with a member of the McFleury clan, Reese. The Titans' defensive core is young and about to enter their primes, and although the well-rounded defenseman has looked excellent in the VHLM, especially after being traded to the Mexico City Kings, VHL scouts are concerned that his work ethic could mean additional time developing in Europe. If that's the case, McFleury will be racing Hunor Solyon and Lloyd Braun for that fourth spot on the Titans' roster. Reese has the potential to be a very good blueliner in the VHL, but the real value here for Helsinki is acquiring capital at a relatively weak position in this draft.

The Los Angeles Stars find themselves in an interesting position, with a roster heavily loaded with forwards and lacking in defensemen. GM Zach Gagnon recognizes that he needs to move up to grab one of the few first round grade defensemen, but it ends up not quite being high enough, with Reese McFleury going the pick before. Despite that, they arguably end up with the better prospect in Mexico City's Keno Akara, even if it isn't at the desired position. VHL scouts are raving about Akara's work ethic and potential, as this first-generation prospect has the makings of a, no pun intended, star. Gagnon knows better than to pass on the available talent to reach for a need, so Los Angeles will need to shore up their blue line elsewhere.

We'll make this one short, because, well, Ahma is the Davos GOAT. Ahma is coming off a fantastic season in the M, putting up 79 points with 62 assists and having an impressive +31. He also was able to take home the cup with the San Diego Marlins and is looking to continue his success with Davos!

  S85 Playoffs - SDM 6 0 0 0 -1 5 6 20 14

Up next at 11th overall we have Jack Jeckler heading to the Moscow Menace. Jeckler is fresh off of a cup win with the San Diego Marlins and adding a defenseman to the prospect pool for Moscow is always going to be a positive. Although he'll take a season or two to crack the roster, it's a solid add for the Moscow Menace in a draft that is not as strong as the most recent ones.

Coming up next after a Moscow we have Hannibal Barca going to the Warsaw Predators. Barca had an exceptional season in the M on the 8th seeded team, putting up 95 points with 42 goals. Barca has shown that he can really shoot the puck, putting up 400+ shots during the regular season. Even though Barca slipped a bit, this is a solid pick for N0H and his Predators, where Barca will be joining the team in a season or two.

Warsaw goes back-to-back with forwards here and bolsters their depleted farm system with another quality prospect in Tim Riggins. While the Predators have enjoyed a strong run of late, including a Continental Cup win in Season 84, it's time to think about the future with their aging forwards, and Tim Riggins, combined with Hannibal Barca the pick before, would immediately bolster Warsaw's farm system. The massive 6'6", 220 pound winger doesn't take advantage of his size with physical play, but what Riggins does do is play a very good all-around game. He also has a better than average work ethic, although it can be argued he hasn't reached his full potential there either. All in all, Riggins has a lot of potential to be a great pick for the Warsaw Predators, especially this late in the first round.

Malmo's 2nd pick of the 1st round should be an interesting one, while they do have a solid defensive core, and some great forward pieces, It should be expected for Malmo to take the best player available, which in this case is Logan Foley. Foley had a great season for Mississauga with 42 goals and 57 assists for a total of 99 points in 72 games played. Foley should make an impact in the VHL in the near future and could potentially come up after only 1 season in the VHLE. This would be a great addition for Malmo!

Coming in at 15th overall is the defenseman Reinhard von Kongming, who we believe will be heading to the Moscow Menace. Reinhard hard a great season in the M, putting up an impressive 76 points in 72 games with the Saskatoon Wild and San Diego Marlins. On top of that, they already have a championship to their name while they look to continue their winning ways. Kongming will need a couple seasons for development, whether it be the E or the M, but they'll be ready to make the jump and hopefully play for the Moscow Menace when they're needed.

Coming in at the last pick on our list is Admir Bala, a defenseman from the San Diego Marlins and Saskatoon Wild. This player, like Reinhard Kongming found themselves on a very stacked San Diego Marlins team at the end of the season. Regardless though, Admir Bala looks to be a pass-first defenseman that'll need a couple seasons for development. Adding a talented young defenseman to the prospect pool is exactly what Toronto needs, as when they'll be looking to compete he should be ready to make his jump to the VHL!
