SEATTLE, WA - The Victory Hockey League regular season has returned in full force with the opening days showing a shocking display of results across the league. Shocking most, however, is the lack of offensive quality coming out from the league's top forward - Tavish DeGroot. A slow start for DeGroot is unfamiliar territory, as the veteran forward is used to playing crazy hockey in the first quarter to give his fans hope before the inevitable drop off. This season is looking like he's going for the opposite. 1 point in the first three games, so that he may come down and strike in the back half, as recency bias is the most important thing to consider when looking at the Board of Governor's voting for the Most Valuable Player award.

Halifax 21st owner and former Los Angeles Stars general manager had this to say about the voting committee: "Yeah the voters I think close their eyes and only look at stat lines once the season and playoffs are over. They don't consider the human impact, they don't care if you score 50 goals in the first 20 games, they only care what the final stat board says. Strong leaders will never win unless they also have the most points. Don't even get me started on the two-way forward award. That one lives purely on reputation. Why judge a players defensive skill on the pressure they create, how active their sticks are, their hustle on the back check when you can just point at hit/penalty minute ratio. Crazy."
