DollarAndADream 3,356
As far as interviews go, Travis Boychuk is not afraid to answer the difficult questions. We have interviewed him countless times in his tenure around the VHL and VHLM, and he never refuses to take part. The Calgary Wranglers have been his team since joining the pros, this being his 3rd season in the league. The Wranglers have had their fair share of ups and downs, but it has been interesting to watch them try and climb that mountain. The Wranglers are a team that is expected to make the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row after missing to hit that mark for many seasons. Currently 3rd in the North American Conference and 7th overall, we bring forth to you an exclusive interview with the Calgary captain. Interviewer: This is your 3rd season in the VHL, Mr. Boychuk. Have things gone as you originally planned? TB: Obviously it would be great to make the playoffs from the get-go as a rookie, but things did not turn out that way. I came to a team that was moving uphill and things have been great here. We continue to get better as the seasons move forward. There have been many exciting times on this club. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Interviewer: How have things been with adjusting to all the new faces on the roster? The team added many different pieces this season, looking to make a mark. TB: With time will come the chemistry we need on the squad to play the way we want to. Although proving difficult at first, we seemed to find our way for awhile there but lately we have been struggling. I feel that we have all of the right pieces and I am ecstatic that our GM has found the right guys to fill out the team. ---------------------------------- Interviewer: Moving onto that topic, the Wranglers are currently on a 4 game losing streak. Care to chime in on what you think is going on? TB: Things do not seem to be going our way right now. We were close in a couple of those games losing one in a shootout and one in overtime, so it's not like we were that far from winning. The VHL has a bunch of tough teams and some of the best goalies in pro hockey. Sometimes you have to do a lot more than play the right way. You need the puck luck as well. ------------------------------------- Interviewer: You have been the captain of the team for awhile now. How has it been transitioning from a regular player on the team to the official captain? TB: Besides the letter on the jersey I don't feel any different. I have always acted the same way and there are more people than just me who lead this team in the locker room. Obviously, with being captain comes much responsibility so it is up to me to try and turn this team around in the direction we need to be going. Being the captain of the Wranglers is a great honour and I look forward to fighting for what we want together. -------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- Interviewer: For the first 2 seasons you were a top 10 producer in the league, and things have seemed to slow down this season. What is your opinion on that matter? TB: Being one of the top players in the league has been great for me the last 2 seasons. Things have started to slow down this year, but I am still doing the same things on the ice. Other guys on my team are scoring just as much as I am. The offense is definitely more balanced this season than it was in season's past. I am going to continue to work hard every day to get back to where I was. There is nothing I want more than to be at the top of my game for my team. ---------------------------------------- Interviewer: You have the highest shot percentage on your team. The fans would ask of you to shoot more often. TB: Oh, is that true? When I am on the ice I am always going to look for the best opportunity. If that means to make a pass, I will do it. If shooting the puck is the best option than I will of course do that. Maybe I will try to work shooting more into my game. ----------------------------------------- Interviewer: Any final words for this interview? TB: The Wranglers and I are going to keep on trying as hard as we can to make our fans proud. The aim this season is the Cup. diamond_ace 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/13585-interview-time-w-travis-boychuk-graded-66/ Share on other sites
