As the VHL's 40th season crosses the halfway mark, S41 draftee Gifford Shock's stock continues to rise. The young center ranked 12th on the season's preliminary draft rankings, but has since shot up to a first round position. In the mid-season rankings Shock found himself ranked eighth overall, chasing Jacob Akerman and AIM-11.

This steady rise has continued in the days since the ranking, as Shock has hit the hundred practice hour milestone. With half a season to go, Shock still has room to climb. It's possible that with the right motivation, he could claw his way into the top five by the time the draft comes round.

Rumours have Shock tied to potentially being drafted by the bottom-feeder Seattle Bears, as Shock has previous ties to the franchise. Another possible destination could be the HC Davos Dynamo, who have three picks in this years' first round and might be willing to take a risk on Shock with an earlier pick.
