FTK 49
AN UNDERRATED PLAYER FROM EVERY VHL TEAM AMERICAN CONFERENCE EDITION note: Some of these players may not be exactly “underrated”, but may have had good seasons than simply flew under the radar or was overshadowed by another player on their team or in the same position. Seattle Bears Elias Lampi, Defenseman @Pifferfish Lampi is an overall great defenseman, and is one of the many S86 Seattle draft picks to have emerged as major pieces during their contention window. Lampi is also an effective powerplay finisher, scoring 14 of his 24 goals on the powerplay. Stats: 72GP, 24G 37A 61P New York Americans Geoff Bezos, Goaltender @Quik Despite only playing in 9 games as the backup goaltender for the Americans, Bezos had very solid stats. Sporting a good save percentage, and a winning record on an otherwise below average Americans team, Bezos is in a position to become an elite starting goaltender in the VHL. With a contract offseason upcoming, Bezos has a prime opportunity to cash in and become a team's very capable starter. Stats: 9GP, .927 SV%, 2.56 GAA Vancouver Wolves FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist, Winger @STZ One of the younger players making this list, being a S88 draft pick, FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist is no doubt one of the headliners of a “next generation” core in Vancouver. The Wolves would be fools to not keep this capable player around. In just his second VHL season Analfist managed to hit the 20 goal mark, and was an effective powerplay producer. While he has been a top prospect, his production at such a young point in his career has to be headlined. Stats: 72GP, 20G, 33A, 53P Toronto Legion Dens Oden, Winger @Snussu While across the board Oden had a down year, it could be more telling of Toronto as a team rather than Oden himself. Still managing to crack 20 goals this season, Oden will be looking for a bounce back season in S90, but there is no denying he is still a capable producer on a lackluster Toronto Legion squad. Stats: 72GP, 20G, 26A, 46P D.C. Dragons William Futch, Center @Futch While Futch gave up some hits and blocked shots for an offensive leaning statline this season, he was still a very capable two-way forward. Hitting the 20 goal mark is hopefully a sign of things to come for Futch, who also had a career high 54 points. While Futch’s career certainly got off to a slow start, there is no denying he is a capable producer at the VHL level. Stats: 72GP, 22G, 32A, 54P Chicago Phoenix Scotty Sundin, Center @fromtheinside An effective face-off man and a natural leader for the Phoenix, Sundin’s impact as a first overall pick for the Phoenix cannot be overstated. While Sundin is yet another player who had a down year, not reaching a point per game in S89, he is still set to be one of the headlining Phoenix’s all time great players if he resigns following his free agency. Stats: 72GP, 26G, 41A, 67P Los Angeles Stars John Poremba Jr @CrlineDijohn14 While Poremba Jr is not a headlining goal scorer for the Stars, he is an impactful defenseman who’s importance on the blue line is often overlooked. Obtained in a trade from the Dragons, Poremba reached over 100 hits on the season. If he decides to remain in Los Angeles for many years to come, he will surely be a welcome addition. Stats: (DCD) 48GP, 10G, 10A, 20P (LAS) 25GP, 1G, 7A, 8P Calgary Wranglers Michael Shotter, Defenseman @TacocaT9 As the only undrafted player to make this list, Shotter is one of only a few UDFA to make a VHL roster. Nevertheless, Shotter had a very respectable year for the Wranglers, and while his career in the VHL may not be star-struck and full of awards, it is an accomplishment to be a point producer in the VHL as an UDFA regardless. Stats: 72GP, 5G, 15A, 20P Scurvy, fromtheinside, vincentlg2007 and 3 others 4 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/138766-an-underrated-player-from-every-team-american-conference-edition/ Share on other sites
