With rumours swirling of a possible Landon Wolanin trade, we’re talking today with Landon’s agent, Ducky Quackerson.

Interviewer:

Well Ducky, it sounds like a change of scenery might be coming for your client, superstar Landon Wolanin. How has he been dealing with the rumours, and what could this mean for his future?

Ducky:

It has been an interesting few weeks to say the least. There has been a lot of conversation with Calgary management about the direction of the franchise going forward, and everyone involved seems to agree that with strong prospect classes coming up, and an aging core, that a rebuild is a strong way forward. Landon and Calgary have a strong relationship, and both parties agree that whatever is best for the franchise is best for everyone. Landon is committed to playing for Calgary as long as they employ his services.

Interviewer:

Have you discussed with Landon any potential destinations? Or are you just letting the higher-ups decide?

Ducky:

Landon has won a championship, and feels incredibly fulfilled by that. Next on his list is to take the opportunity to take these last couple seasons to take a fringe or rebuilding team to the next level. Get some good scoring opportunities, engage with some fun, young talent, and make the impact on the next generation that players like Saku Kotkakoivu and Daniel Janser had on him. It is very important for him to leave that kind of legacy behind before he retires. He also has a dream of bringing one of the perennial bottom-feeders to a place where they can attract real free agent talent, and start building a culture of winning.

Interviewer:

Many fans are noting the connection between Landon and the city of London. Is there anything there yet?

Ducky:

Not that we know of. Of course teams are checking in all the time on a player like Landon Wolanin, and with London’s window closing rapidly, it makes sense that they would have interest. The real concern is whether they would have the assets to pursue such a player, and then also compete in the rebuild market in the coming seasons, especially against a team like Calgary, who have drafted and developed really well over the last decade.

Interviewer:

Landon has always been floating in the top 10 for goals, points and shots for the last few seasons, but never really made a solid push for any of those leads. How does Landon think he can surpass the likes of Ronan Lavelle and John Jameson going forward?

Ducky:

Landon is certain that it is not a talent issue. I think most people would agree that those calibre of player are rare, and very difficult to separate. In the end, the player with the most opportunity, and play share will prevail the most often. We will see where the next seasons take him, but keep an eye on him over these last couple of seasons.

Interviewer:

Thank you for your time Ducky, and best of luck to you and your client this offseason! Should be an exciting one for Wranglers and Wolanin fans alike, and we can’t wait to kick off this offseason with some blockbuster moves!

Fun article, I really believe Ducky should do more interviews.  He seems like a natural in front of the microphone.  With the number of top player retirements and the shifting of players around the league it is going to be a much different VHL in season 90.  The next 10 seasons are going to belong to another group of players, potentially a player like Wolanin can help lead a younger team to the next level.  It will be interesting to see what happens and how Wolanin gets to finish his career.

I give this article a 9/10
