v.2 1,406
About to enter his fourth season, Toronto Legion S87 1st overall draft selection Mac Atlas is feeling unsatisfied with how things have started, but optimistic for the future. The Legion are climbing out of a rebuild and are now looking more poised than ever to make a solid playoff run. Management added 3 gigantic veteran stars in Ronan Lavelle, Tomas Sogaard, and Siyan Yasilievich this past off-season, giving the legion some much needed established superstar leadership, and a stacked roster on paper heading into Season 90. Here is a look back at Atlas' career thus far: Season 87: Atlas entered the VHL immediately after the draft, positioning himself as one of the top rookies coming into the league with tons of expectations. The legion had a loose roster, with management being transparent about tanking for a top pick again the following draft. Atlas had the freedom to just focus on himself and his game, as the team wasn't expected to really click or accomplish much. He finished with a modest rookie campaign, putting up 23 goals, 23 assists, and some minor defensive stats. Season 88: In his sophomore season, Atlas posted an impressive 37 goals, and 27 assists. A nice little improvement on his rookie year. The team was still trying to mesh, and once again management made it clear they were still in rebuild mode while developing their young core. Atlas emerged as a leader in the locker room and on the ice for this young Legion squad. Season 89: The Toronto Legion were a disappointment across this board this season. With the team expected to now make a playoff push and emerge from a lengthy rebuild, Atlas finished the year with 47 points, just one more than his rookie year. Overall, the roster had holes and management wasn't ready to address them during the season. It was best to hold out for now and have an aggressive offseason. Goalie Joel Castle put up astounding numbers this year which took some pressure off. Draftmate and teammate Jimi Jaks had a very solid campaign, surpassing Atlas in most areas - a good sign for the team but a bit of a personal hit and some added pressure on Atlas' game. Heading into Season 90: Management had to be aggressive this offseason, and they were just that. Bringing in 3 well known VHL all stars to complete what would be the best roster the Toronto Legion have had on paper in years gives fans plenty of promise for the upcoming campaign. Anything short of playoffs is now out of the question, and Atlas know he cannot disappoint. Redemption is on the horizon.
