Klose Sets the Pace

The Oslo Storm are steamrolling their VHLM competition for the most part this season, built on a foundation of excellent goaltending and a strong and deep defensive core. The Storm are a team that can shut down their opponents and play a slow, patient game if they so choose. Almost acting as a pure counterpoint, however, is the Storm's elder statesman and leading scorer, Christoph Klose. Klose is more than capable of playing a defensive game, but where he truly excels is on the attack. Currently second in the VHLM with 85 goals, 7 of which have come in the Storm's past two games, Klose has been able to take advantage of opponents that get lulled to sleep by the defensive play of his teammates before springing loose on the offense. Averaging over 10 shots a game, Klose is clearly the Storm's trigger man and has no problem playing that role.

"I'm not where I was 10 years ago, but I can still play an up-tempo game, and I'm still rebuilding my skill set," Klose said after scoring an overtime winner, his fourth tally of the game. "Playing with guys like Light, Komy, and having Nikky in net makes my role a lot looser than it necessarily has to be. I get to be more creative and try some things that would normally get a guy benched."
